RE: RM Auctions 'Duemila Ruote' auction preview
Discussion
One thing is for sure about this auction, it will skew the market with such a flood of cars. I expect they will all find buyers at very variable prices.
But can the market cope with such a large number? Especially as the maket looks a little wobbly at the mo'?
Historicly high prices are usually for pristine cars or the dreaded barn find. These fall somewhere in between....

Looks like a very intresting collection of cars. Most will have been sitting around for the best part of 3/4 years I would have thought.
Is this a real AMG Hammer? I thought they only came in a 2 door? http://www.rmsothebys.com/tv16/duemila-ruote/lots/...

200 to 400 EURO's????
Pretty much free to anyone who'll take it away.
The seats are worth more than that if they're the ones also fitted to the Ferrari Challenge cars of the era.200 to 400 EURO's????

The owner certainly had a good eye for toys, however according to another report I read a previous auction contained certain other erm 'toys' that really justify being described as "pre-loved", seems the Italian government has decided to sell this blokes extensive collection of 'Frankie Vaughn' and vibrating back massagers, quite why anyone would buy them is beyond me.

Crazy low estimates, there will be a lot of disappointed bidders when the selling prices go the usual way.....
15-20 k for a Detomaso Pantera, ok looks a little rough, but tidy ones are selling well into 6 figures.
OT But i havent really looked at pantera prices for a while you could get them for that a few years back!!15-20 k for a Detomaso Pantera, ok looks a little rough, but tidy ones are selling well into 6 figures.
Nice ones were 15 grand!
Bubble bobble..Interesting to see what this flood of cars will do to the market.
Regards D.
VAT will generally only be payable on the buyer's commission.
e.g. 22% VAT on the 12% Buyer's Commission. Therefore, the hammer price plus 14.64% is as much as anyone should be paying for most lots.
However A number of lots will be subject to VAT on everything but those are highlighted in the catalogue with a ▼ (an upside down black triangle).

Spoke to someone yesterday who's at the auction, he said RM Sothebys website crashed earlier in the week as it couldn't handle the amount of traffic.
He also said the queue to register was miles long and the hall packed.
Low guide prices have worked well in garnering interest but the majority of Lots have laid unused for some years so will require recommissioning.
Few cars have any history/paperwork (except registration docs) so in part the guide prices reflect this and the recommissioning work that'll be required.
It'll be interesting to see how things unfold later...
