My friend had a slightly different tale about 25 years ago. She was selling an xj6, couple of geezers turn up kick the tyres, rev the bllx out of the engine on test drive and then pay asking price in cash. .

Can you guess where this is going.....

About 3 weeks later her road is cordoned off and she has armed police battering her front door down. .

Geezers had used the jag for an armed robbery.

Not sure how long it took for v5 update then but obviously it was still showing as her address.
I'd that many years ago too - a Ford Orion 1.6i GLS. Three blokes came out, insisted on meeting me at a roundabout, one took it for a test drive (presumably "the driver"), revved it out every gear, came back and paid the asking price.

Several weeks later i got a call from plod asking had i any record of who i sold it to - it had been used in an armed robbery. rolleyes
I had an Orion 1.6L (flash, huh?) back in the early 90s, difference being that the armed robbers who used my car stole it from outside my house rather than buying it, carried out their armed robbery whilst I was at work not knowing the car had been nicked, and I returned home to find plod in my house waiting to question me about my suspected part in an armed robbery.

Car was recovered a few days later when plod stopped it with the blaggers in it, they got done and I got the car back - they hadn't done much damage other than bend the door lock and break the ignition barrel and it lasted a fair few years after that until I sold it to my brother-in-law who crashed it. Actually, sold a perfect Mondeo to the same brother-in-law 10 years or so later. He crashed that in to a tree.

Happened to me with a pickup I traded in (main dealer) for a van. Had an early morning visit from the police as the pickup had been involved in a chase of some description (it wasn't quick!).
