Hi guys,

Ok, so this is a long shot. Basically, I have come away this week on holiday from Wiltshire to near Aviemore in my 2009 335d touring.

At Perth the tyre pressure warning light came on. Got out, all tyres seemed ok, one a bit low. Topped it up and drove on thinking the problem was a change of air temp. Get to within one mile of the holiday cottage... Light comes on again. Get out, tyre looking low. Carry on to cottage given it was not far at all. Tyre still low but not flat. Next morning flat as a pancake.

Called out the local tyre guy who replaced the tyre for me. Ridiculed me rightly for changing from run flats and relying on only tyre weld and a compressor. Car was fine. Used it for the day. This morning flat as a pancake again. Great. Call out tyre guy... turns out the alloy is cracked.

Long story short, my breakdown company are being unclear on whether they'll cover me to get towed all the way back to
Wiltshire (GEM pay and claim policy), BMW can't get a new alloy to me until Wednesday next week, and steelies in the right size seem equally hard to get hold of. I had planned to go back home tomorrow but absolutely have to leave by Sunday.

Here's my last grain of hope- does anyone have a wheel to fit a BMW 335d (in the aviemore area... I can get to a roughly one hour radius) that they let me hire to drive back to Wiltshire. I'd then post it back.

A very long shot but worth a try.

Just a get a wheel the same diameter with a tyre on at the correct PCD. Drive home at 50? or pay £350 and get it trailered back and sit back.

Try asking on the E90 forum someone will have a spare I've put a link up to your message on here asking for help

Is it on 17, 18 or 19" wheels?

If you have 18" or 19" you could also borrow two 17" wheels for the rear that would get you home ok.

You might be lucky, last year I lent a wheel/tyre and jack to a PH'er who was stuck in France in his 335!

try Gumtree. very popular up here.

I stuck 'bmw wheels' in with a search area of inverness, and it came back with quite a few n- mostly winter wheels mind you. Full set of winter wheels and tyres in dingwall for 275 quid.

there's also a facebook page 'Inverness buy swap sell' but think that might be a closed group. I'm not on it much, but not saw a lot of car stuff on it.

Would 17s fit? I'm in Nairn (15 miles from Inverness) and I've got a set of 17" Alpina replicas that are a bit scabby, 2 with new tyres, 2 bald.

I can run the two good ones down to you at Aviemore. One is fine, one has a slow leak as there's lip corrosion, but they'll get you home.

Edit: I could also pick up that set of winter wheels and tyres in dingwall and run them down to you if you'd prefer 4 matching wheels and tyres, the winters might come in handy too as the tyres on those alpina reps are el cheapo chinese ones.

Edit2: Just pulled them out the shed, tyres are definitely el cheapo chinese ones but tread is still new (iirc they did 750 miles or so before I scrapped the e36 they were on!). Would have to run them down tonight if needed though as I couldn't manage tomorrow with work.

Thats good to see that it's the PH spirit!
The 17" do fit on 335 models I have swapped a few sets around over the years (having had 4 x 335).

Well. What can I say? I am absolutely amazed at the sheer kindness of this forum. Thank you all so much! You're the best kind of people. Particularly you rallycross and alexnessie.

I haven't logged in since I posted given the internet in this cottage is so terrible and I was fully expecting the post to be buried with no replies. What a shock!

Ok. So. The good news is that GEM called me back today to confirm they would pay to take my car back to Wiltshire. Quote from recovery firm was £1290, nothing payable by me.
Excellent. But the better news is the mobile tyre guy here (Ross - RJ's Mobile Tyre Services) has managed to source a steelie off of his friends 530d front for me to borrow to get home and post back. What an absolute hero. I am just waiting for his call- he's insanely busy today, then I'm going to limp down the (6 mile!!!) driveway of this estate to meet him and fit it.

I'll keep you all updated. We're not out of the woods yet but it looks increasingly like my bank account may stay positive!

Thanks again all.
