Anyway as it goes once you have a barge you seem to keep the spirit alive by looking at other barges all of the time, as I am a big Lexus fan I came across the below which seems a lot of bang for your proverbial buck. Considering what this would have cost new and probably worth a punt for some exec/Don Johnson motoring for a couple of years

I rather like that. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-LEXUS-LS430-FACE-LI...
Good luck with yours, and we all look forward to hearing all about it! Oh, and welcome.

Long time lurker here, and have joined the barge club the other week with picking up a nice Mk3 Lexus LS400 with 117k on the clock, was this one:

Was well worth the £1400 notes as not so many good MK3's around anymore.

What an absolutely corking tale, I've never heard of that before this thread!I'm reluctant to post an auction, this might end at more than thread budget but it's probably the most desirable Jaguar X300 variant going

Damiler Double Six, so an XJ12 with Autolux leather and all the toys, but an early one so it's a SWB. The LWB always looked a bit odd to my eyes. Good MOT history, looks clean from the pics. Paint looks good, none of the bumper chromes are buckled (very easy to do in my experience), and the interior looks good.

Reading the text, some of the arguments for buying a Japanese import were making sense. I deliberately resisted taking any sneaky peeks at the photos until I had read all of the advert in full. My Spidey Sense was telling me it was going to be worth the wait.
So....with nice low mileage...rare...from a warm, salt-free climate...and within Thread Budget? Tell me, what's not to like?

Isn't this the one that was outside Maison du Palmier only a couple of weeks ago? (Well, I know it was!):

And how much did that auction end at?

Following one very lovely looking Daimler Double Six, another. At time of posting, a sniff over budget, but of a completely different generationhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Daimler-Double-Six-Auto-...
Gonna need money spent, but will reward it I think.
Nice wheels on this 540 Touring, but I wonder how many frogs were needed to make that interior?

Also at this mileage I'd like to find out if the gearbox has had any work.

L like the interior but not the wheels, so maybe we should buy it and swap some bits around.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-540i-TOURING-/252766...

That apart, looks like a good car on the face of it. Assume no work has been done on the transmission, because it's not in the service schedule and BMW dealers don't do it. If you buy it, make sure you have enough money in a jar for an exchange box.
