Looks great.

Did the Mk4's come with xenon lights then?

I don't recall that I have driven a manual car with more than 4 cylinders which is a bit embarrassing.
My Dad had Series 3 V12 E Type manual. Beautiful car, and we'd be sat on the motorway in 4th gear at whatever speed you wished to do, pull off at your junction, keep the wheels rolling at the roundabout still in 4th, and just pull away.
Completely effortless. It'd do 5mph to 135mph in the same gear smile
This is an interesting topic....I think I've only ever driven 2 manual cars with >4 cylinders....both V8s, and both similar cars, Audi B7 RS4 Avant, and BMW E92 M3. Both wonderful.

You can get a much wider variety of pleasant sounds out of a manual V8 than you can with an auto.

This C43 has been knocking about for a bit; I think he's just dropped the price (to within a haggle of thread budget). Looks very smart, and sounds well cared for. 22 stamps in the book! Can only assume the high miles are putting people off, though the MOT history is fab and it's had a new gearbox and timing chains. Ditchfinders on the rear though.

I wouldn't say Uniroyal Rainsport 3's are ditchfinders. They're not top-drawer Michelin/Continental, but hardly a cheap and rubbish tyre.

Yep, he showed a close-up of one Uniroyal. Forensic examination of the other photos betrays evidence of multiple Zetas!

The Rainsport 2 and 3 don't have a particularly long life but they're extremely grippy tyres, those. Especially (as the name suggests) in the wet.

Whatever a Zeta is, though, he can keep...

I've got two Rainsport 3s on my E31. Paid £58 each and they've been great.

ditto, I've a set of uniroyal rainsport 3's (following advice from glasgow rob and his 300k mile mondeo) they replaced my bridgestones.

a significantly better tyre by a long way. really good in the small amount of snow we had in Yorkshire this week too. don't think I'll be swapping to another tyre quickly tbh.

I had a little go in an early manual XJ-S last year, with basically the same engine and gearbox. I think the period road test says that if you tried to start the engine with the clutch up and the already car in top gear, it would pull away and hit 150mph without touching the gearstick!

It's what I run. Cheap as chips, but very good indeed.

Ah, sorry, ditchfinders indeed!

That reminds me. I have a nearly new set of 235/45R17 RS3's in the garage I should get around to flogging. Fitted them to my old S210 a few thousand miles before it died of rust frown So if a fellow bargist needs a set. Shameless plug I know.

For a 1998 vehicle it's a pretty astounding thing. 120,000 miles with full Lexus service history and literally EVERYTHING on it still works perfectly, including the automatic cabin air re-circ which isolates the cabin when high levels of pollution are detected.

My dad had a couple of these from the first few years of production, and they always went well but this with the VVTi engine and 290-odd bhp is surprisingly quick. Just this evening I upset the driver of a '63' plate SLK350 on the M1 who decided to try and accelerate away from me during an overtaking manoeuvre biggrin

The best bit is that it came with its original "Lexus Experience" CD, which I will have to upload an excerpt from. It ends with the BBC English voice saying "Settle back into your seat, and enjoy the flawless reproduction of the LS400's digital sound system with this specially chosen musical selection.", followed by a selection of imperious sounding classical pieces. MOVE OUT OF MY WAY, PLEBS!!! biggrinbiggrinbiggrin
Congrats on the Ls400, I got mine a few weeks ago.

My experience has been identical to yours, and surprised just how well it goes.

Just picked up a set of the 17" DHP wheels, hopefully get them fitted in the next week or so once refurbed.

I've got that CD too - I assumed it was video, will dig it out for my next cruise smile

Has your cambelt, waterpump and pulleys been done? Cambelt needed every 10yrs I believe.
