I rather like this 280CE, sub £5k on carandclassic, but better photos on the seller's site. A lack of history but these 280s are usually a lot more. Are they pleasant enough to drive? http://m.brendanconlanautomobiles.net/viewanad.php...
Its a 230CE and not a 280CE - this means that its the four pot and not the straight six.Price is about right for a 230CE as they are not as nice to drive as the 280.
I had a 280CE and had to sell asap - sold it for £150 about 7 years ago. Prices are close to £10k now.

I think LS430's are still on the way down, whereas LS400's bottomed out years ago: there are far fewer out there these days. Due to being effectively worthless, more and more healthy cars are getting broken for parts. I keep an beady (beardy?) eye on the market and reckon demand (and prices) are on the verge of a rise.
Certainly noticed a few more converts to the virtues of the older car around these parts recently. No surprise in my book: '400's are less complex, more robust, better looking and nicer to drive IMO than it's replacement, which, common to many a "new and improved" version, wasn't quite built to the same standards and can suffer bigger and more expensive problems, despite a better level of perceived quality and the addition of more gadgets. Plus, they really are fking gopping.
They're definitely on the rise if only slowly. I bought a very good condition 95 LS400 with 100k on the clock for £800 in 2007, nothing like that available these days.Certainly noticed a few more converts to the virtues of the older car around these parts recently. Says 280 on the carandclassic ad and on the boot, and that looks like the 6 under the bonnet to me though!
Yep it's the six alright (M110). I had a 280 saloon and it was quite fun to drive, was my first car. The M110 puts out about 180 bhp which is not miles off the output of the later 3 litre ish engins.0a said:
Just a 520, but with a manual gearbox to make it go bit better, 95k miles and air conditioning. Claims of no rust. £1,800 sounds very reasonable. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

Any interest in this for the holding list for future events? The RAF and Cold War museum at Cosford: http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/cosford/plan-your-day....
Looks like a contender to me.All of the V bombers under one roof - what's not to like.

(It's also a very good museum)
I love the cloth interior too. Silver, orange indicators, 15 hole, 129.066 build - all good so far. The plastic window replacement is well within the capability of any half-decent trimmer - getting the right gauge and tint of material is the key.
As a Japanese import it has a different antenna hole (higher and at a different angle) to UK/Euro/US market cars. That might matter if the grommet perishes and starts leaking water into the rear quarter - and you can't source a replacement. I think that's the original Japanese spec radio as well which would mean it doesn't get UK radio reception, at least in the MW band.
Medium length black roller shutters are 30-40 quid from a breaker - not rare by any means. I'd want to put orange side repeaters on.
This car was imported in 2009 - I suspect it was very clean and low mileage then - so to have three UK owners in that time and a series of MOT failures of increasing severity suggests it hasn't had the same lifestyle over here as it did in the land of the Rising Sun.
The UK market grey over grey 134k mileage "SL Shop Overhaul" car that was first launched at £12995, got a Spotted mention at £10995 and finally went sold in a one-bid auction on eBay before Christmas for 5100 has been relisted due to a timewaster. I've bearded about it extensively on page 4 of this thread.

It would be one of the better R129s to come into thread budget but the buyer should be prepared for big ticket maintenance items to come in before very long.

DELETED: Comment made by a member who's account has been deleted. 43000 miles W124 300e-24 claimed to have factory Sportline suspension, estimated within thread budget.

Is the model designation badge meant to be way over there? A nod to German reunification?
No reg number alas. EDIT - J713 EDS - nice clean history, if you can forgive it barely moving for years.
Can't see it staying anywhere near budget. There's another just gone up for a 10k asking price here
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C815486
and here's a comparable (sold) example from MTSV
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C634721
"It was then bought, last year, through a specialist Classic dealer, by one of my "W124 enthusiast" customers, and who has spent quite a significant amount of money at his local Mercedes specialist, having after a major service carried out, and having some other "usual W124 jobs" attended to. These included Idle valve hoses, prop shaft coupling, front springs (genuine MB Sportline), fuel pump relay and a set of new Continental tyres. This gentleman has a habit of spending lots of money getting his cars right, then quickly becoming bored with them, and subsequently sells them on a short time later. In this case it was just six months, part exchanging it with me for another E-Class, so his expenditure will now benefit the next owner of this vehicle.
You're doing the Lord's work, Sir.

I've just never really liked the looks of those 6 series. A mate had an M6, which looked OK but that's the highest praise I can muster for it.For me, it'd have to be an XK over a 6.
Lovely colours on this 540i in Mora and at £2,750 not silly money. Although a little bit leggy and the Alpina additions won't suit everyone

That does look like it could be decent for the money - tiny photos though and as said 'virtually no rust' could mean worrying levels of it. And it depends which dash lights...
The wheels were an option at (big - IIRC about £1700 at the time) extra cost on these, so could have been on the car since new. The wheels were also fitted as part of the Jaguar 'Sportspack' which included a limited slip diff, lower suspension with Billstein dampers and self levelling suspension. These cars had a dual tone coachline (red and grey on a silver car) and a nose-down stance similar to that of an Alpina. This car has lost the stripes (I suspect it has been resprayed) so that distinguishing feature is no longer present, but it (to my eyes) lacks the nose down look, so probably has the standard suspension.
The wheels are 16" forged lattice alloys made for Jaguar by BBS. If they are in good condition as they appear to be, then they are worth quite a few hundred pounds. They're rare and sought after in the old Jag world.
Hmmmm, your description on low front ,stripes , wheels etc made me go to my photo album......
I loved this car....long dead now imagine, this was back in 2002.

This one seemed familiar - it looks like this one I posted on the 16th Feb 2016 in volume 9 of this thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... - the miles, end of the plate, spoiler, and upholstery add up. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C710305#http://www.angliacarauctions.co.uk/en/classic-auct...
I seem to remember the pictures you posted above from somewhere though?
That 300e-24 was up for sale for 9k at Lawton Prestige sometime last year.
