That does look like it could be decent for the money - tiny photos though and as said 'virtually no rust' could mean worrying levels of it. And it depends which dash lights...
The wheels were an option at (big - IIRC about £1700 at the time) extra cost on these, so could have been on the car since new. The wheels were also fitted as part of the Jaguar 'Sportspack' which included a limited slip diff, lower suspension with Billstein dampers and self levelling suspension. These cars had a dual tone coachline (red and grey on a silver car) and a nose-down stance similar to that of an Alpina. This car has lost the stripes (I suspect it has been resprayed) so that distinguishing feature is no longer present, but it (to my eyes) lacks the nose down look, so probably has the standard suspension.
The wheels are 16" forged lattice alloys made for Jaguar by BBS. If they are in good condition as they appear to be, then they are worth quite a few hundred pounds. They're rare and sought after in the old Jag world.
Hmmmm, your description on low front ,stripes , wheels etc made me go to my photo album......
I loved this car....long dead now imagine, this was back in 2002.

I wish it had air con.
The poor old thing needs a permanent home and 20k per year putting on it.

V6 auto Camry anyone?

Green with beige on a Simon sensible runner. Should work out cheaper to run than a 1500 quid 1.1 litre fiesta type size that folk might buy looking for a run around. Overlooked by the masses = barge value?

Private sale @ 5500 but surely yours if you put 5 bags on the bonnet for him. Maybe best start with 4750 though?
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...
Sensible engine so servicing shouldn't be too bad and it's on 16s, so the ride is comfy and replacements will be reasonable.

I am picturing a see-saw, with interesting on one side, and crappy on the other. It is quite a handsome thing, with some undoubtedly cool and innovative stuff.
But it is a GM Cadillac, and I dont watch itv.
80% of it will surely make me want to weep, and maybe self-harm in a minor hobbyist concealable-from-work kind of way.
Yet, it IS interesting.

What do you mean it's on 16s? I'm assuming you mean wheel size? In which case that must be a typo...Private sale @ 5500 but surely yours if you put 5 bags on the bonnet for him. Maybe best start with 4750 though?

The ad does say 16" wheels, but it must be a typo. They look a lot bigger than that - I don't think 16" wheels will even fit on the 6 series will they?
I think 17s, possibly 18s were the smallest. Definitely a typo. The ride on bigger wheels isn't bad, certainly if it doesn't have run-flat tyres. I have been in one with run flat tyres, and the ride was worse than the M6 I went in (which was actually really quite good for ride quality!)

That would be perfect for Le Mans. Having typed that I looked at the advert, which makes exactly that point.

that is going to go for a lot more than its guide price! I looked into a stretch barge a few years ago for a banger rally and that sort of money won't even get you an absolute wreck of a ford granada ex-funeral plus 15 wacko owners rust-bucket. That ovlov is lovely.Zonergem said:
43000 miles W124 300e-24 claimed to have factory Sportline suspension, estimated within thread budget.

Is the model designation badge meant to be way over there? A nod to German reunification?
No reg number alas. EDIT - J713 EDS - nice clean history, if you can forgive it barely moving for years.
Can't see it staying anywhere near budget. There's another just gone up for a 10k asking price here
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C815486
and here's a comparable (sold) example from MTSV

"It was then bought, last year, through a specialist Classic dealer, by one of my "W124 enthusiast" customers, and who has spent quite a significant amount of money at his local Mercedes specialist, having after a major service carried out, and having some other "usual W124 jobs" attended to. These included Idle valve hoses, prop shaft coupling, front springs (genuine MB Sportline), fuel pump relay and a set of new Continental tyres. This gentleman has a habit of spending lots of money getting his cars right, then quickly becoming bored with them, and subsequently sells them on a short time later. In this case it was just six months, part exchanging it with me for another E-Class, so his expenditure will now benefit the next owner of this vehicle.
You're doing the Lord's work, Sir.

How are you doing anyway HR? Are you also bargeless at the moment?
Good thanks mate and yourself? Yes I am without barge in the traditional sense for the remainder of my cheapo lease. In a 16 plate Passat Alltrack. It's a fine car in many ways, sadly engine and drivetrain not so much, although I won't bore the thread as to why
The good news is I have the cash from the E61 accumulating a bit ready to go when the lease is up, so will be back in something worthy at some point!
