It's definitely a purple-ish silver. Amethyst. My favourite colour too, there are some nasty Lexus colours.
I got it for £550 so there is a bit of headroom for the inevitable recommissioning bill.

I'm reluctant to post an auction, this might end at more than thread budget but it's probably the most desirable Jaguar X300 variant going

Daimler Double Six, so an XJ12 with Autolux leather and all the toys, but an early one so it's a SWB. The LWB always looked a bit odd to my eyes. Good MOT history, looks clean from the pics. Paint looks good, none of the bumper chromes are buckled (very easy to do in my experience), and the interior looks good.
I think that is rather wonderful. One of coolest model names for any car too, IMO. Game of backgammon anyone?

I like the look of this one. I wonder where the auction will end up
He had that up for sale last year IIRC. Zack Noor is the wheel refurbishing guy.
Where will it end up? Not more then £2,900 I suggest:

You guys are good at this.
Scroll down on the auction page, second from the left.

congrats, my fave colour on the Lex
Good news on the purchase. Hopefully it won't be too much to fix....though you must question why it hasn't been done if it wasn't too expensive? I had an airbag warning light come on on my E65, turned out to be faulty wiring loom or something....cost just under £200 to fix including labour.

Cornershop....silver is your favourite colour? Exciting hehe
smile

got a touch of lilac in it, very subtle but sets it off nicely imo

LS looks lovely, top work.
Just to take us slightly off topic...

Now I'm back in the UK i am getting to grips with my new commuter and getting up to my standards; an E46 330i Auto.
So i've ripped all the seats out and hoovered it all out, removed the weird hands free kit but the beige leather seats really are poor (dirt ingrained into them) and the carpets are really stained is some places.
What would folk recommend to tackle both? Don't mind spending a bit on some decent kit to clean the carpets and get the dirt out the leather.
Bought two new tyres to replace the Sunny's some moron has put on the back of a 3.0 RWD car, got my Dad collecting some refurbished genuine MV1's on the way down south next week. The wheels are poor, as well.
Also given it a full engine service and both auxiliary belts. In a month or two i'll get the queerbox oil and filter changed, too.
Oh, and ordered two new front wings ready painted in 430 (Oxford Green) to replace the rotten ones on it.

Thanks in advance, Stuart.

And how much did that auction end at?
Bloody hell! Nice but massively overpriced. I can't help but see e38s as a £2k car.

Fantastic work. Get a reader ride thread up and take lots of pictures for us. There has been a lot of lexus appreciation in here recently so I think a lot of us will be very interested in how you find it.

Surely no one here would be stupid enough to buy an old Riley, especially a blue one...

Times do change and the change can be rapid sometimes (Well, maybe not as quickly as 19 days granted).

Over the past couple of weeks, since selling the house and the E34 540i, I've been thinking: "Are there any cars that I could put some money into (even though I've got nowhere to put them) so as to offset any loss in capital rather than it just sitting in the bank?"

I had two ideas...low mileage E39 M5s or an 'ordinary' E46 M3 Coupe. I'd taken my eye off the ball on those for a while, thought the must have bottomed out around now and that I could pick up something nice for not very much money and just squirrel it away. Y'know, get something REALLY nice for about £8K-ish?

Wrong! Missed the boat!

Lovely colour that. Looks like the aspensilber on my old E38.

Ouch, tricky choice then!

Totally different ball game, but the RX7 is on a roll this last couple of years, quietly appreciating nicely. What about an SLC? RRC? 944? Suppose it depends if you want to wrap it in cotton wool as a low-miles hideaway, or just use it. smile

Welcome home!

The Furniture Clinic stuff is good for leather, and you can get a restoration pack. I've also been pleased with some cleaner and restoring polish I got from an alternative e-bay seller. Should be easy to find but I can give you the details if you want them.

There is a poster who calls himself Fermit the krog and sexy sarah or something equally cringey, but he's a leather restorer and has offered some very good advice; might be worth a PM to him.

As for carpets, any proprietary cleaner should do a decent job on them.

Whilst it's probably a mini-barge a la an MB 190e, rather than a full-fat thread-hero special like the Lexus featured above, you know the expectations (and unwritten rules) about delivering pictures, don't you?

Hmmm...never really been a fan of the SLC. Don't really want any form of R107 really. I don't want anything that rusts significantly. Although, I would consider an R129 as a contender.

I think the low mileage 944 boat has already sailed. I was looking at them literally just now as I do like them. Yes, it would be just to wrap it up and store away.

What's an RRC?
