Best smoker barges 1-5 large [vol11]
Discussion
I'm sick of it. The constant deliberation. Its got hold of me like a vice.
I've messed up and bought the P6, don't like it, 20 years since I had one and far too crude for my portly ageing self.
So what now? LS400? XJ40? E32? E38? W126?
Which one has a ride most similar to the S1 XJ6 magic carpet? I require to be totally isolated from the roads.

Thinking of parting with my barge after 10 years of ownership and 35k miles (yes that's all...)
It's my 52 plate E39 540i sport auto individual now with 80k on the clock. Serviced annually even at less than 4k per year and also gearbox serviced last year. Nothing else has needed doing.
Is this a £3995 car or a £4995 car? Opinions welcome...
The latter I think. 540is are making good money and low miles Sport in Imola is very desirable. It's my 52 plate E39 540i sport auto individual now with 80k on the clock. Serviced annually even at less than 4k per year and also gearbox serviced last year. Nothing else has needed doing.

On E39s this is way over priced, but an N-plater with heated blue cloth and otherwise utterly mingebag spec is quite lovely.

Agreed. I'd be surprised if a £4995 asking did not generate a fair bit of interest.

Hmm. Extraneous leaper. KENDA tyres. Blacked out rear lights. But with those *things* sorted, a very nice motor vehicle indeed.counterofbeans said:

944s have had a silly year, valuation-wise. I doubled my insurance valuation to £20K last Easter and will need to get itrevalued again this year: frankly if I wanted to replace my car from a dealer now I'd need to be looking at cars advertised at between £25K and £30K. I was shocked the other day to see haw many examples of the S2 are on at just under £20K.
The R129 is still cheap, but rising.
The 1996-2006 XK is a car I like very much and would not at all mind having, but they are known to rust enthusiastically and if you want a non-rusting car which will live out in the rain, that's not one I would feel safe in recommending.
Something else that's definitely bottomed out but not yet become silly money is the Alfa 916 GTV and Spider, from 1993-2004. They need a lot of suspension love and in V6 form need brakes and a limited slip diff, also they don't fit a lot of people, but they are interesting, distinctive and (perhaps surprisingly) relatively rust-free.
Yep, for sure, the 944S2 boat really has sailed far now...that was a car that would have most definitely been on my short-list a year or two ago as I've always like the look of them. Now even mega-mileage ones are seeing high asking prices. The R129 is still cheap, but rising.

However, in "Off Topic" news...as it's not a Barge...I think the obvious investment car that was actually staring me in the face is the Z4M. I missed one for sale privately at the weekend literally across the road from one of the hospitals that I work at on Saturday. So, today from a Dealer and for more money, I've bought this!
The fact that I already have a virtually identical 3.0Si and nowhere to keep this one are secondary considerations which I'll have to deal with when it arrives!
Haven't even seen it in the flesh!

I bought one in 2007 and sold it 3 years later.
One of the few cars I should have kept.
The Z4 that is.

Lovely. It looks great in the pictures. I have not seen a Z4 hardtop before! These will surely go a bit crazy like the Z3M prices have done?
