Lovely. It looks great in the pictures. I have not seen a Z4 hardtop before!
These will surely go a bit crazy like the Z3M prices have done?
I'm thinking the boat is on it's way down the slipway. I remember looking at a ready supply of Z4Ms around the 12-14K mark over a year ago. Now there's one straggler and a bunch of likely rubbish from the *august gentlemen* at Target BV cars in Rotterdam in the PH classifieds. I was hoping for a drop to 10K and I'd be in there for an honest example. These will surely go a bit crazy like the Z3M prices have done?

Yep, for sure, the 944S2 boat really has sailed far now...that was a car that would have most definitely been on my short-list a year or two ago as I've always like the look of them. Now even mega-mileage ones are seeing high asking prices.
However, in "Off Topic" news...as it's not a Barge...I think the obvious investment car that was actually staring me in the face is the Z4M. I missed one for sale privately at the weekend literally across the road from one of the hospitals that I work at on Saturday. So, today from a Dealer and for more money, I've bought this!
The fact that I already have a virtually identical 3.0Si and nowhere to keep this one are secondary considerations which I'll have to deal with when it arrives!
Haven't even seen it in the flesh!

Ok, it's a deal. Perhaps I'll start with how I explain why I've just bought a car without an MOT 60 miles away to a very confused other half.....
You can skip that bit, we've all been there!0a said:

My colleague has an Alpina Z4 roadster which he is thinking of moving on, we share a lift to work so I have been in it a lot. Don't really see the appeal apart from it makes an excellent noise.
What engine does the Alpina version use?The Alpina has it's advantages and disadvantages. I looked into this quite closely before I bought my 3.0Si a couple of years ago.
The Alpina is definitely cheaper to own than a Z4M...lower tax, cheaper servicing etc. But more fragile. 19" wheels don't really do it any favours on our roads but the springs are standard "Si" springs.

Looks like a very good buy the Z4M. Well done. If your house is much like mine, you'll be used to the cold by now.
The fact that after some years of losses (or at least flat-lining) that I did actually make a significant profit for my efforts by selling the E34 540i back to the chap I bought it from last week seems (strangely) to have become either very quickly forgotten or indeed completely inadmissible evidence in my defence.

Who's side are you on here?

Nice purchase Derin, why not the Z4MC if you don't mind me asking? Would make an interesting counterpoint to a 3.0Si.
True. And I see your point. But that boat has really slip down the slipway. About 2 years ago a similar mileage Coupe would have been about what I've paid for this Roadster. And, I nearly did buy such a vehicle at that time. I offered £16K for that car at the time but it went for £18K. Now, two years on, I would definitely have made a bit on that car but I just couldn't do it at the time. The Z4 Coupe is definitely a hot cookie at the moment such that 3.0Si Coupes are also being snapped up and going up in value. So, one of those was a consideration.
However,I just felt that a 3.0Si in Coupe form would have been even more difficult to get through Immigration Control (aka SWMBO) than this M Roadster.
Can you imagine all of the forms that I'd be filling in now? Like:
"So, what's the difference between this one with a roof and this one without a roof?"
"We already have cars with roofs, don't we?"
etc etc....
derin, your first mistake was admitting guilt. Surely a fellow of your experience knows to park such things 'off-site' until such time as their appearance is deemed acceptable?
I know a chap who had 5 or 6 Aston's that his other half never knew about. Everyone was much happier that way.

Nice but I couldn't get on with the non-OEM unit being fitted in it.derin100 said:

I can imagine just how frosty the reception would be when you arrive to complete a collection of two cars, one with a tin roof the other with cloth.
