Random one but I saw in a 180k mile LS430 today. I was very impressed by the interior quality (though it looks a bit too jap for me!) the way the doors shut, the near silence of the engine, the double glazing, the reclining rear seats and a few other things.

Seemed really quiet inside (was at Goodwood and could barley hear the track) - this is in comparison to my W215 CL500 and I now see why they are selling well at the moment!

better value than the LS400, bigger boot and interior, lots of positives as you say, however i can't get past how the front looks.

People here will laugh, but there was a time I really wanted a Montego Turbo but didn't buy one because I only liked them on the TRX wheels and didn't want to be stuck with TRXs
Every day a school day.

Just mentally flicking through the old brochures I had as a kid and can't picture the alloy in question. Which was it?

Anyway my latest purchase, collect tomorrow, has prompted me to post. A8 D2 2.8 Quattro sport. 52 plate with pretty decent service history and 67,000 miles.
Welcome. We'll want photos as soon as you have it.
Thanks guys. Too dark to get pics now.

Initial thoughts are feels incredibly planted and solid. CD changer won't read the one I tried to load. Could be my taste in music. A lot harder ride than the LS, but not uncomfortable. Being the small engine one thing it isn't is quick. Love it though

Not as well built or reliable, however. Not bad, certainly, but not as good.

That is still one of the most compelling threads I've seen on PH - quite the Shakespearean twist to it all!!

W124 300TE, with a year's ticket, honestly advertised (spoiler: it's probably several hundred pound's worth of vacuum pump) at close to thread minimum.

Just don't leave anything valuable in it and you're laughing.

What kind of Merc 190 could I expect for £2k? Are running costs reasonable, I'm used to E39's... more or less the same? Looking at the 2.0.

You can expect a very nice one. Arguably the finest car (all measures considered) ever built.

But then, the E39 is another contender for that title, on slightly different weightings.

The 190's weakness, IMO, is at the higher-speed end of things. But body and interior quality is surely unsurpassed?

I'm more of a wafter anyway, tired of E39's after 8 years and modern cars don't inspire me.

I love the styling. MPG I'm expecting 30ish on a run? It has to be auto. I've heard everything about them is bombproof, and they don't even rust terribly... true?
