The old beast passed its MOT today without any advisories, which was nice. The man at the garage commented on how good it is underneath.

Quite right too after the work you've done.

Superb.

Is the correct link.

The TE / Deutsch Autosport connectors are what you will find on any rally / racing car up to and including F1. Was looking at them today to help a friend finish his conversion of a BAR F1 car into a trackday special.

The West Midlands, especially, is the home of the vanity plate. Every second car in my village has one. Might be part of the reason.
Well, I was in the East more than West yesterday. From home in Shropshire to the Black Country to Norwich to Ipswich and back.

You're definitely right about vanity plates around Birmingham, Black Country and the surroundings. But I don't think it explains this: I know a lot around here who own them and most of them keep them off a brand new car for at least one plate change (to show off the new reg, I suppose).

The newest car I've ever bought was an 06 plate, so I'm not too fussy!

Much as I would love a V12 140, that is crack-pipe pricing even if it was 100% perfect.

Seems like a nice car. Would look better on some Style 32s though.

Yes it is insane, would need 150k miles fewer and perfection to be worth anything close to that oh and it would have to be being sold via somewhere posher than a bombsite in Hayes.....

"Long MoT" - by that I presume he means all the way back to last June when it expired.

Could, but most people meaning that will say "will be sold with fresh MOT".

That green E39 is pretty, it's visually a very close replica of my first one (though that was facelift). While tastes in wheels vary I don't think the Style 33 'turbine' wheel can ever be wrong for an SE E39: it is the car's definitive wheel, the one designed specifically for it, and which most early cars were fitted with. It's a bit of a pest to keep clean but they are pretty strong too.

Or that would be an early 12 valve 164 with a solid rear subframe?
The pre facelift V6 164, what I regard as the 'classic 164', is a very very rare car now (actually all 164s, regardless of engine or year are now extremely rare in the UK) and there are maybe four or five good ones left. If I had one I would not be selling it cheap.

Christ what awful advert. Does he actually want to sell it?

No thread as the owner isn't a regular PH'er, to keep it thread relevant here it is behind my S211 smoker barge! The car was run by Villneuve at some races and used as a demo car at Goodwood. In case making it a trackday car wasn't hard enough my friend decided he would be better off designing his own engine which looks like a work of art so far....

The details are up on the Palmier shill bidding special E500. Shill bidding or not, that is an insanely well-specified car. It has everything. And the condition looks utterly superb.

Double glazing, which I have never seen before on a w211. Heated rear seats, ditto. Electric, memory, heated, cooled, vibrating, massaging front seats, ditto.

It is about to break thread budget, but what a car.

Incredible spec - electric rear seats is one of those options that only a swivel-eyed lunatic would pick.
