The details are up on the Palmier shill bidding special E500. Shill bidding or not, that is an insanely well-specified car. It has everything. And the condition looks utterly superb.

Double glazing, which I have never seen before on a w211. Heated rear seats, ditto. Electric, memory, heated, cooled, vibrating, massaging front seats, ditto.

It is about to break thread budget, but what a car.

That is proper.

Must have cost a fortune new.

That looks fantastic. I really really like our S211, a V8 would make it almost perfect.

No one mentioned the 520i badge on the V8 E39.
Seems sensibly priced, also.
They're lovely motors, loved my Dads E39 and I'd love an M5 at some point.

If I wasn't long-term married to my E39 I'd be down there now.
It is making me contemplate divorce from my s124 or w201.

However, I had to contemplate divorce from Mrs r129sl earlier this week over the much-wanted w108.

That is some spec. It would be approx a week from taking ownership to ruining the interior for me though. In fact, day one it would probably be filthy.

That 500 has a crazy spec and a great ad. What's the betting on where it will finish?

I want a button with "dynamic" written on it!

ours has that colour interior and it is weirdly resistant to dirt, in fact given it has been used more or less as a builder's van for the past year or so it is nothing short of amazing.

I have the same colour carpets in my 129 and they are a horror show. Admittedly they've not been shampooed in 6 years but still.

Amazing how it hides all the blemishes isn't it?

I really wish they'd finish that building covered in busted tarp...

Oh god. That E500 - massive want. And I don't even need a car. I want to buy it and wrap it in wool until my lease is up. Amazing.

Incredible spec - electric rear seats is one of those options that only a swivel-eyed lunatic would pick.
They're only heated - but my last company car, before moving to this practice and taking the car allowance instead, was an 05 S211 Avantgarde which I added heated rear seats and rear seat airbags to, so I am that lunatic!

(I'm not convinced double glazing was ever an option in 211 E classes - I have an 06 brochure somewhere, but I only recollect privacy, blue-tint and heat reflecting glass as options; ETA - every day's a school day, just looked at the photos on an iPad - eBay is blocked at work)

Premium tyres but the seller doesn't know what they are. Get off your arse and look before writing the advert. It's a shame he hasn't cleaned it properly before photos.

I also reckon a replacement mirror that has been admitted to being damaged will be daft money.

I like it though, didn't realise just how rare the W12 variant was (seller says 10 brought to the UK?).

That could be a good buy. Pretty sure it's nowhere near as rare as he says it is, but they're nonetheless rare enough that I can't see them staying at £5k for that long. Mirrors look to be £100-150 on eBay so not a deal breaker.

Seems like a nice car. Would look better on some Style 32s though.
It's being replaced with a Micra for the time being. Golf lease ends in Dec so will look for something different then.

Maybe time for an LS400...

I'll be amazed if i has, I've never heard of it on a 211 and the pics look pretty standard. Perhaps he's been carried away by the quarterlights? Nice car though, and a rare specification however you look at it.

Agree it does not look like proper W140 double glazing. Apparently on later cars (not just Mercs) a laminate between two sheets of glass is used so they are technically double glazed in that they have two sheets of glass but not an air gap like on the W140. I suspect when you see an advert claim 'double glazing' this is what they mean unless the advert is for an example of the greatest car ever wink
