Lidl Fruit & Nut FTW
This was niggling at me from pages ago so I had to try some. If it's the brand beginning with 'B' in the light cardboard wrapper rather than the plastic wrapped ones, then yes (Why they have two fruit and nuts, I don't know). They are very good indeed. Would go well after a pickled egg starter and port and lemon aperitif.
That's the badger.

Although I don't trust the mileage.
Don bother going to the site for the extra pics, they're pretty useless. For £6,500 I'd expect the nsf wing sorted at the very least!

Indeed. Completely unacceptable. The anticipation could kill one or more of us!

I'm not sure anyone will remember, but a while ago I asked here if anyone knew a way to find out what reg was on a car now, using the reg that I knew it had from new. If that makes sense.

It's a Range Rover that my dad had new in 1998 and sold around 2003 or 2004. I knew the area where the buyer lived and I happened to be there today so thought I'd keep my eyes peeled. Amazingly, there was a blue Range Rover 4.6 HSE, parked just off the main road through the town. Well, I couldn't be sure that it was 'the one'(it has a personalised plate now)

You should've seen the look on one of the Lecturers faces at my place when he offered to buy me a bar of chocolate after I formatted and effectively redesigned his year ahead class planners (and whoever created the originals should have their bodily hair infested with fleas for those shockers!) and I said Lidl's Fruit and Nut (the very same B one). The American pillaged purple wrapped chocolate doesn't even get a look in (tastes like damn near every so called mature cheddar, bland and tasteless).

I suspect he's never tried it, he ended off getting me Gross (funny name for a brand but there you go) dark chocolate (61% version) very nice stuff and I don't even like dark chocolate that much. I'd certainly recommend it in small quantities.

I searched for a free online car check service and typed in the new plate, hoping it would tell me something about it. A clue I could use to find out if it was this car. I found it:

I think I might have disappointed the thread denizens laugh

Well, I was excited. I thought it would fit in here. A 4.6 litre V8, four speed automatic, small wheels (16"), modest colour and very good condition (it has Pirelli Scorpions all round and it's only on 99k miles!). A then and now story with family connections.

I even included a picture of me as a child

Double glazing, which I have never seen before on a w211.
I'll be amazed if i has, I've never heard of it on a 211 and the pics look pretty standard. Perhaps he's been carried away by the quarterlights? Nice car though, and a rare specification however you look at it.
Agree it does not look like proper W140 double glazing. Apparently on later cars (not just Mercs) a laminate between two sheets of glass is used so they are technically double glazed in that they have two sheets of glass but not an air gap like on the W140. I suspect when you see an advert claim 'double glazing' this is what they mean unless the advert is for an example of the greatest car ever wink
I was sceptical yesterday, and commented before looking at the eBay advert - it had photos of the edges of side windows, hence my edit. Those photos have now gone - he clearly reads this thread! - but they weren't standard glass. I wonder if it is the heat reflecting glass - I don't recall laminate being an option either. The text needs editing now!

(Currently at the MOT station with the A124 - borderline on emissions last year, but a rewired throttle body and new lambda sensor and "it's walked the emissions test". Just awaiting the overall verdict!).
I saw the pictures and thought it was double glazing.

I noted that he added the reference to double-glazing later. It definitely wasn't there first time I read the ad. I agree he must read this thread.

I have scoured my old brochures and price lists for the w211 and can find no reference to double glazing.

Edit: the double glazing pictures are still there.

Only for those under Merc spells. biggrin

That's a smashing find, I hope the seller co-operates sometime soon. I'd love to find my Dad's old XJR, I suspect it's long-since gone to the bin.

It gets better - I've just told him that I've found it and he said "wish I'd never sold it...favourite car I've ever had. I might try to buy it back"

Right that does it - you've got to get your hands on that car. This could become an epic tale!

The owner has my number and email address so fingers are crossed. If he has the original plates too, I'll be delighted. Since he or she seems to keep it in good condition and on the road, chances are he likes it though

The perfect thread car. If it looks in good condition, even better news - being a p38 the owner must be fed up with the bills keeping it on the road by now smile
