Practically no-one does it, just as they don't on BMWs, and for the same reasons: it's not in the service schedule at all, and if you go to a franchised dealer they will just look at you blankly and repeats "sealed for life" until you go away.

If the door is to the right, and the rear bumper to the left, it's an offside rear wheel.
That means it'll be rotating clockwise and therefor the tyre is on correctly.

smile
But if it was the front wheel it would also go clockwise - so doesn't matter front or back - surely left or right (n/s, o/s) is the important factor ?! sillyconfused

Exactly. Mine had full history from the supplying dealer, and because I have all the invoices, I could see it hadn't been done. I got it done as soon as I bought it, and the gear changes were notably smoother straight away. So in some ways, a good history with an indy might be preferable to main dealer stamps.

Tomorrow I'm collecting a 1999 911. It's a Carrera 4.
I know it's not a barge, and I can't stop thinking of how many nice barges I could buy, and probably another sports car too, for the same money.
But I'd rather regret doing something than not, and I said i'd own one before I'm 30, so I'm obliged to see it through.
Awesome! Top work.

I said I'd own a Ferrari before I'm 30, so I've got some work to do. eek

The only diesel I've owned put me off for that very reason - defrosting it in winter with the stink of canal barge floating around was nauseating.
The E39 diesel owner will waft away in comfort on a cold morning, his arse ensconced in a toasty embrace as his pre-programmed Eberspacher heater fired up 15 minutes before departure

It's a no from me:

There are probably some more rare options I have missed out on this vehicle but the list is endless! Ed:No, it isnt endless you are lazy and feckless.

As you would expect from a 21 year old car, there are some minor issues. Ed:Again, no, not if you can be arsed to sort them
The airbag light is on. Ed: Potentially expensive if it needs an airbag ECU or 2
The passenger side door mirror, was broken off when i bought the car, it is fixed back on but the wiring out the mirror was missing, a second hand mirror, with the wiring intact would sort this. Ed: If its is so easy why didn't you sort it yourself?
The switch for the rear electric blind has been pushed in, an easy fix, if you can be bothered. Ed: Unlike you ya lazy bd.
The service history for this car was lost by the previous owner. I bought it from a relative of the previous owner, who had passed away, he had owned the car for most of its life, and I was told it had full main dealer service history, but they couldn't find it, so its sold with no history unfortunately.
But I did call Mercedes main dealer in Surrey, they have the services record it will cost £12 to replace with new one services book. Ed: I cant afford £12 quid to prove this. I bought it off a who told me all this st

GRAB YOURSELF THIS RARE MERCEDES S500 W140 LIMOUSINE BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE AS YOU KNOW THEIR GETTING RARE AS
THE TIME GOES ... Ed: THEY'RE you spastic. And actually in this condition THEY'RE not...

I'm still set on a 190e 2.0 but I came across this and thought it looked interesting,

Thoughts? I can't act on anything as I'm in Orlando for a bit so shouldn't really be looking hehe

What's the most comfortable way to travel 300 miles from edinburgh to the midlands for say £2k. Mostly motorway(. It with the odd bit of pleasing A-road where a good handling car would be appreciated?

LS400 (fails the A road amusement)
Jag XJ perhaps

Or this... http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C849053

Lovely. How does an e32 compare to say a w124 in terms of refinement?

I do like BMW's, and they're very capable, but i'd struggle to look past a well-maintained, well-bought XJ for that job.

A mini barge might be a better option when talking handling, something like a e46 330i could be worth considering.

Quite different from a 190e.

Depends on how big the bills can be before they spoil your enjoyment of the car I suppose.

I'm with the ennobled one on this 0a.

For motorway waft and fast road fun, XJ all the way. And, more pertinently, I don't think you've ever yet owned a Jag have you?

Yes I am thinking the same at the moment. You are right - I have never owned a Jaguar.

I had been considering an e55, but on reflection I have work that I need to do to all my cars that I am about to kick off. The w124 is now booked in for a complete respray, the SL will head for a new roof and exhaust shortly after, and the 190 has a couple of bits to complete (I'll probably sell it after that). This will be a significant drain on resources.

Therefore there's a need for another car, and a long distance mile muncher seems like a good addition. I don't want it to be dead to a good road though.

Oh I think the 190e is more my thing...
