If K12 can't, I'd be more than happy to on Saturday.

Here's the E55 I bought last month. In a word: allthecaryoulleverneed.

Under £5k? Did it come without the engine? tongue out
£5K on the nose.

Plus £3K for the gravel.

Granted - but it's that nice, I just don't mind.

I honestly think its 200% more desirable than an equivalent 5-Series, A6 or E-Class.

Clearly it's not 200% better. It might not even be 90% as good. But I WANT ONE.
Was it you SJ who had the Willoughby scale of desirability? Does it feature on said scale?

That sounds like the sort of brain-fart I might have had in one of my decreasingly frequent moments of lucidity. But if it was, I can't remember how it worked.

Perhaps we should revive it as the Holly Index? Scaled 0-1

Something like:

All items ranked on the Holly Index lie between zero to 0.1. An item scoring 0.1 being the most desirable item in the universe (that isn't Holly Willoughby).

Holly Willoughby scores a 1 on the Holly Index, being, as we know, at least 10 times more desirable than everything else in the universe.

Excellent point, I had almost mis-scaled the index before we'd even started!

I used the forum search but as it's so crap, all it gives is the whole thread and not the post. An earlier barge volume was a hit however. I'm pretty sure it was SJ. Mine is the Sawyer scale (Natalie) rather than Willoughby but it works very similarly.

This thread is such a (welcome) diversion from real life it should be available on prescription.

On reflection my scale would be the Whalley Scale but backdated to 1984. So it starts at -33.

My scale and I nod in collegiate fashion at you and your scale.

I've just run the numbers and Natalie Sawyer is a strong 0.097Hw (rounded down), which as Momma taught us is about as good as it realistically gets for us muggles.

You can be very pleased. A Volvo V90 wouldn't see which way a Natalie Sawyer went, if we were to take out our Hollies and wave them around.

If we're having a personalised measure, mine is the Lawrence Composite Measure.

As such, this is featuring highly at 0.09 (based on SJ's scale-null method between normal items and the reference item).

Not for this website is it.

I had the misfortune to have one as a hirecar once. One of the worst cars I've driven in recent years. Or ever in fact. Just horrible. Nastier that a Suzuki SJ413 which at least had a quirky charm. Regardless of measurement scale it's a near 0 from me.

Around a grand a year battery lease? No thanks, I can buy a lot of 'Super' for that.

I quite like the Fluence.

They're of their time, in terms of being an early entrant in the low-end of the electric car market, and the range is really not good.

But they're very well equipped, pretty comfy and spacious (crap boot aside), and pretty lively from 0-40. An 80mph cruise is very unobjectionable, although not good for the already poor range.

The battery hire is a deal-killer though. If you do no miles, you might as well have a diesel (or small petrol) in financial terms. But if you do plenty of miles, the car doesn't really have sufficient range.

6/10, not a bad effort all things considered, undone by a poorly thrashed-out financial stranglement.

It is also pretty messy when you buy a used Fluence, since you also acquire the battery that Renault then expect you to rent. It takes Renault quite a while to catch up with you, and their approach to asking you for money is not very slick. Not a great experience. Especially if the used battery Renault are demanding you lease from them is tired and worn-out.
