Seriously? That's 3k for a W202 that's done less than 40K. I'm not sure I've seen any halfway decent 190E for less than £4k, let alone one with just that mileage.
You're not likely to see many 190s with mileage that low, so if you do want a very low mileage car you'll have to pay lots for it, even if you can find one. That applies to 202s as well as 190s of course hence, I guess, the price of that one. (And the vendor!)

I personally would steer clear of a barely used car in favour of a well-used one, but I accept that that is possibly a niche mind-set in the Real World!

£3k will get you a nice 190 if you keep your eyes peeled, especially if you're happy with a 1.8 or 2.0. The various merits of all the engine sizes were widely discussed here in the past couple of weeks if you scroll back a bit.

The W124 was positively dwarfed at lunchtime, today. The Rolls Royce was MUCH bigger in every dimension!

Just done my usual 'MOT Check' on the Rolls Royce. 85k on the clock. Nice to see one being used as transport. It'll have more miles than the Mercedes in a couple of years at this rate!

Both very handsome cars but the Mercedes more so in my opinion.

They can certainly take some abuse and still (kind of) work...

Anything for us to worry about, should it come to market? smile

Ha! Straight pass without advisories each and every year!

I wonder where these cars will end up at 12 years old? The Bentley Continental GT seem to be available for £22,500. The Rolls Royce has sold in much smaller volumes though.

One for the bad parking thread, look at the back of the non-Mercedes.

You'd have to sack your captain/chauffeur for that....

Only the 3.2 but quite cheap and only 70k miles. I'm not quite sure about the colour combination - gold/gray/beige http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C707770

This looks okay, 4.0 litre car (but the SORN status always worries me)... http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-XJ-4-0-XJ8-4dr-Full...

Off the road since August - looks good, but a bit worrying what you might find once you start using it again.

£2k and that's a steal! Owned since 2001 and he's only the second owner. Looks like decent quality tyres and he'll put it through an MOT before it goes.
Best £2k you could spend. And would be equal or superior to any sub £5k Merc.

Well that's good that I have asked the seller a couple of questions then! I really like the colour combination, it suits the XJ rather well I think.

I haven't done the thread IA of checking MOT history, but if i was in the market, i'd be straight up to see it.
And you get a nice day out in the Lakes to boot!
And those wheels are a nice change, too.

The Jag has a nice plate and sounds OK, but I don't like the XK8 wheels and I agree that SORN is an off-putter. What does the MOT history look like?

I think dark green is a bit dull and a bit too anonymous but I bet it polishes up nicely and looks great in the sunshine.

I probably wouldn't buy it, but for 2 grand you can't go too far wrong.

They seem to take a long time to sell. £4k for a 220 and £8k for a 320 seems to be the starting point. Low milers are hawked at £25k and more but no one buys them.
...I think you'd get something decent still in single figures.
I've just had my morning coffee in the sun with the Mercedes Club gazette. Auction news reveals that ACA Auctions sold a 93 E320 cabrio with 166k miles for £6,300. I suspect the miles hit the value because that seems pretty cheap, but shows that it's still do-able.

The only similar car advertised in the mag with a dealer is on at £18,950, a Sportline with 70k.
Just saw this on C&C. Facelift, Cat C, same mileage as mine. 10K.

Saw this article in yesterday's super soaraway Sun and thought of this thread (because of the Jag, not the paper). Is the secret out?

Nothing to do with this thread, it says "motoring experts".......
Not to mention below thread budget.

These XJ8 have frozen in value. I paid £2k for a 1997 90k mile example about 10 years ago.
