Not hugely bargey, but thread loves a Volvo.

There can't be many cars owned by one family for 53 years. Very desirable as a nice little spring-time project.

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C848752

Beautiful car, but how badly must things be going for that seller to flog it off?
2 things from the ad:

restored and cared for by my father in more recent years

Pictures are 4-5 years old for reference - car would need some general tlc to look like this again

equals:
Father has been in failing health for the last 4-5 years, now passed on, no-one in the family is the faintest bit interested in "manky old cars" or has anywhere to keep it (garages full of junk and new PCP cars on the drives every 2 or 3 years).
I agree with your interpretation. But if it's still approximately like the photographs, that could be the find of the week.

It's a totally gorgeous thing. I'd love one of these, or a Rover P6.
It's a beaut. Unless it's been parked under a toxic waterfall for the last 5 years, that can't be too much of a basket case.

If I had even just a little more space available, I'd have bought it not posted it.

I have some Saab 9-5 aero stubble if that helps?
Sorry, I missed this! I had a question about 93 sound systems (what a pain!) but I've sorted it now with an old thread on UK Saabs

Well, my E31 listing is now live on the bay, 28-day classified ad. Sob. I had the nosecone done last week and it looks approximately 92 times better now than at any time during my ownership. WHY MUST THIS ALWAYS BE THE WAY?

Rather stupidly I'm going to be away for two weeks from next Monday, but I promised Mrs JF I'd put the ad up before I left.
Very nice, I'm tempted myself! I reckon you'll have sold that before next Monday..

This is in danger of getting lost amongst all the rather unseemly DIY skills and discussions of less worthy cars!

I never really got BMW model numbers so this is always an 8-series to me. I like.
Thanks for the bump CdG. Hopes of selling before I head off on Monday are fading fast. The solitary contact so far is a classic of the genre:

Not mine, but any help?
Very much so, I would be amazed if the tab mentioned in the Benzworld thread is not the problem.

I have rotated the sensor off the car so know it can put out the correct Voltage so a mis-rotated sensor makes absolute sense.

Thank you, I will report back tomorrow when I have had a go at a fix (assuming a dry evening)

Ben
Krikkit I owe you many beers, reattached the sensor into its hole and before I even hooked up the computer to reset everything the car settled at the correct height. I can drive it again!

Ben
Great news !
Have been driving the car the past few days, yesterday it rewarded me for the attention by having a totally dead battery by lunchtime. Thank goodness for Eurocar parts same day delivery service.

Next challenge is the 'gangsta' 20" rims scrape on the arches at times which is not serious but gets on my nerves. I may offer them up as a swap for something more subdued, or of course it is possible that I don't have the ABC levels set quite right yet......

In fairness I did offer, if K12 dropped out for any reason.

That offer stands for anyone to anywhere reasonably accessible by public transport from the east mids. smile

E55 Wagon not in black or silver. Looks tidy and the seller claims no rust...

Jolly decent of you. I'm waiting to hear from a vendor based in Glasgow. Once I do, if there's mileage in a viewing I'll PM you if I may? Thanks chum.
