Jolly decent of you. I'm waiting to hear from a vendor based in Glasgow. Once I do, if there's mileage in a viewing I'll PM you if I may? Thanks chum.
You clearly abhor an empty garage! hehe

Bit off the beaten track for me, but I'm not that far from an East Coast main line station. biggrin

Thanks chaps. It may come to nothing which, for marital harmony if nothing else would be no bad thing, but after a promise to get back to me the bloke's gone on radio silence so I suspect that might be that.

In fairness I did offer, if K12 dropped out for any reason.

Ah, the eagle has landed!
And spot on with my predicted arrival time - thanks for the coffee and chat this morning!
You're very welcome, always good to meet another barge enthusiast!
Many thanks to Slipper as Seller and K12Beano as delivery driver, BMW 750 now sat in office car park, hoping to get away soon so I can go fill it with Super and take the long way home!

Great news. We like to see an intra-thread buy, and this one has the brucey-bonus of an intra-thread delivery team too.

When do we get to see the obligatory dim light petrol station shot?

Looking forward to the grainy phone camera shot of the 750.

I am, but I usually get overexcited and buy any old horse st that I view. Perversely the best cars I've ever found and bought have been on behalf of other people.

I wouldn't trust me to a view a car for me though hehe

good evening guys!

using the weather as some inspiration i finally started the 560 sel and have started putting together a "to do " list

the brakes are due to be changed now and i cant decide if i should go with euro car parts or Mercedes original, any opinions?

also slightly over thread budget but:

Depends on price, manufacturer and availability. Merc brake parts tend to be cheap but they're a pain to get. If Pagid or ATE are significantly cheaper at Euro than genuine MB, just get them delivered. It's not like there's some corner of Sindelfingen turning out brake discs for w126s.

If, say, a classic Mercedes sort of chap were to be about to purchase a 1999 XJ 4.0 would there be anything in particular to be aware of?

The car has had new front wings with paint, and the owner seems like a very genuine sort of chap indeed.

I have a telephone call with him tomorrow.

Worth checking if the timing chain tensioners have been replaced, rust is the next thing, inner wings, sills, subframe. Mine had done over 150k and it was only in the last MOT that the inner wings were flagged as an advisory. They're pretty robust cars if looked after.

Surely such a chap would be better off buying a lovely Azurite blue W140 S500 at a bargain basement, cut price thus insuring he stayed faithful to the three pointed star?? biggrin

dbdb and bob-lad are Jaguar-istes, and I recall there are one or two more as well as cat220. Might be worth a PM to each?

Good luck with the chat/viewing/test-drive/purchase.

Just got it... never heard of them sorry (well, apart from occasionally seeing cars they have advertised) hehe Although I do know where they are, they're next to all the main car dealers on Hadfield Rd.

Car looks well though (no idea on pricing). Also having driven Z4s my money would go on a 2.7 Cayman... the Pork is in another league for ride quality - hey this is the barge thread!
