Mercedes CL500 for sale with carswithnoreserve.

Looks quite tempting for sub £3000. Facelift with cooled seats.

Edited to add. MOT history is not great so would need to be cheap.

Slightly off topic but may be of interest to some. Spent some time working on the headlights of my V70 today which has suffered from hazy/oxidation of the lenses. Apart from looking rubbish it can't help the light output.

Spent around 20 mins per side using a rotary polisher with a small pad, and the Meguiars 2-step kit and they have come up astonishingly well. Here's a 50/50 to demonstrate:

The kit I used was £30

http://www.meguiars.co.uk/shop/two-step-headlight-...

They do another one which is a bit cheaper but I've tried it before and didn't get anywhere near the same result and a lot more effort was expended!

Looks great dscam.

Do you need a rotary polisher, or is there a manual method?

Any E65 beards in the house? Not sure my idrive controller is working properly in my new 750 and would appreciate some guidance!

Issue is it spins on its own - seems to have a mind of its own - makes using the nav or changing other settings very hard / near impossible!

A quick google shows this up as being an issue. I can see used idrive controllers on ebay for £100 ish.

Question is - can I just buy a used one and swap them over or do they need to be 'coded' to the car? Alternatively any idea on what one might cost new from BMW ?

Thanks in advance.

A decent drill will do the job too. The results with the 3M kit looks good and those pics are a great demonstration. I'm still some way from troubling Derin in the detailing stakes to be fair though.

I've used the 3M drill kit on my Clio's headlights - turned them from milky and ruined to looking almost factory-fresh. Great purchase and very easy with a corded drill (forget cordless).

This w126 is best described as "interesting". I'm not sure I could hack manual 2.6. And the photos definitely flatter to deceive. Nonetheless, it is an interesting barge.

A curio indeed. I'd heard of the 2.6 in the 126 but not a manual as well.

Back in late January this ex-Japan cloth seat R129 500SL went through eBay for under 3.5k, after we admired it for a while. (see pp.106-7)

The story continues...

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C854609

"The vendor states that the car has VOSA MOT history back to 2009 and has recently undergone extensive mechanical work at Mercedes specialist Colin Ferns Limited, including Mercedes parts new coils, distributor arms and caps (an expensive necessity to make these cars run as they should) and replacement of all idle hoses totalling £1400 (invoice available). The car has recently been driven on a round trip to Nottingham and performed well, pulling like a train after the recent work carried out. The car was bought recently for the vendor's wife who mistakenly believed the answer "anything" in response to the question "what would you like for your birthday?" actually meant just that and is now sadly for sale! Gold over brown! The mother lode!

I was in one of these being used as a taxi in Portugal a while back. I sat in the back admiring my surroundings, much to the bemusement of the driver, who presumably had no idea why I was getting so excited about his old Merc. biggrin

Poor form to quote myself but just to update in case it is of use to anyone else I had a quote from BMW for £235 (incl VAT) to supply the idrive controller and £187 (incl VAT) to fit meaning a total bill of £422.

Apparently the idrive controller can vary from car to car depending on spec and does need to be coded to the car.
