Not sure if serious...

wink

The SLR can't hold a candle to this thing, all IMHO of course.

Agreed, I've seen a couple up close and the engineering detail, fit and finish is just incredible. Photos don't do them justice.

Interesting link below, you'd have to be brave or extremely wealthy to drop this much on a CGT at the moment.

I wouldn't pay £1M for one right now, but hypothetically all things considered and if I could afford to sit on an unmolested example for 15-20 years I would consider it. Only if I had a 2nd I could actually use though. I don't think I would have the discipline to not drive the 71 mile one if it was my only one!!

It's subjective, to me this looks dated in a bad way, much like the 996 911.

"So now entry to a Carrera GT is around £500,000; it looks like a lot when they used to be so much less, but then people are paying that much for a 911 R"

WTF are they certifiable?!

As it would need to remain un-driven to retain its uniqueness and value it has effectively become a pure investment, albeit one that looks nice in your garage. I'd put my hypothetical £1m elsewhere for 20 years, not in a car I couldn't even drive.

Something of a puff-piece...

Has aged badly on the outside, looks awful on the inside, and very twitchy to drive.

But there are not many left with such low miles. And the Rodas / Walker / Furious 7 glamour crash gives the model a cool edge. Should sell fairly easily at a decent price.
Please define "twitchy" .

Only slightly relevant to the thread, but how do you buy an unregistered car? Assuming it doesn't come with a v5 or anything, would you effectively just buy it as goods rather than a vehicle and get paperwork to show that you've bought and paid for it?

Just like buying any other car, but without the V5C.

Or just like buying any other "thing"...

It's times like this I wish I had mega millions so that I could go there, buy the car, get it registered and then do a big smoking burnout right in front of the seller, to horrify them as punishment for encouraging people to mothball such incredible machines...

Also, I'd have a Carrera GT if I did that. Win-win! If only...

Just had a few glasses of wine, so apologies in advance, but...

Isnt it like the supermodel girlfriend analogy? Why on earth would you preserve its dignity, only for the next boyfriend to come along and, well, come along? I mean, seriously, wouldn't you just enjoy it every chance you got? You cant take your money with you, after all, so bloody well enjoy it.

Shame it hasn't been driven.

I'd love one, and think it looks great, but I wouldn't describe it as pretty.

I'd take one with more miles that's been used and serviced as it should be, add a Gemballa exhaust and drive it at every opportunity.

Distinctive, but awkward looking, in a boring exterior color and a rancid interior color.

No thanks.

Makes the 700 mile CGT at Dick Lovett Swindon for £700k a bargain.

Oh you could drive it....on and off the transporter every year or two for its services. It'll need a full OPC service history surely ?

Some of you have ( perhaps ) been eating the wrong mushrooms - it doesn't look dated or like an Aussie ute.
I'd give my left t*sticle for a ride round Spa/ N.ring with somebody like Mr Doom or Mr Webber. And considerably more to own one that has been driven & looked after in such a manner.
I've never seen one here in NZ, but was fortunate enough to see the original (?) show model at the Leipzig show.
Cheers - David

The bubble on all of this will burst and a lot of people will be left with negative equity. The state of the markets means returns and interest in conventional investments are low, hence speculators looking at all sorts of other assets. When normality returns, people are going to realise paying £100k+ for a common old 911 that as £70k new was a bit on the mental side.

As for this, £1m is objectively bloody mental in terms of the actual car. Does anyone have the confidence to think it will appreciate over the next 5 years?

One blitzed me on the autobahn last year when I was in the S8. Bloody hell, those things pile on the speed fast, even when the baseline is > 200kph. It was like watching a missile being fired from the front of my car.
