I hope it's not FWD.
UKL platform based, so will likely be sold in fwd and awd versions like the current X1's.
Current X1s are RWD or 4WD.

I'm not sure why people think it would be toned down for production. Have you seen the gopping big air intakes on BMWs current Msport SUVs. This is a study in constrained elegance compared to the X5 Msport.

No they aren't.

The previous version was, the CURRENT version is based on the UKL platform and is either fwd or awd.

hehe just having a bit of a bad day. It is true though, so many people on PH, when some new tech comes along, say something along the lines of "if that breaks, that'll cost a lot", rather than accept the fact that it'll most likely work absolutely flawlessly.
Fair enough mate, we all have them biggrin I do agree with you tbf. Some daft dribble does get spouted on here but i tend to to grit my teeth and ignore most of it.

They already made them look like a 4x4 with the most ridiculous ride height ever!

Best thing i ever did on mine was lower it. Looked like it should have done out of the factory.

Personally, i'm more excited about the i3 sport concept:

;-)

(obviously it'll look nothing like that sketch, with its impossible size wheels and tyres.......)

I also see concept images of an x7 so that could be potentially 7 different suv models.
The X7 is more advanced than mere concept images......as prototypes are currently being tested on the road.

Does that share underpinnings with the new Roller SUV?

It does look quite good however

Do they really need Six different SUV models?

Not particularly unusual. For Land Rover there is:

Freelander
Discovery
Discovery Sport
Evoque
Range Rover
Range Rover Sport
And before it was discontinued the original Landy,

You are correct, they're not all needed, but they'll all sell. Showed Sarah (she loves 4x4's) and her words were 'very nice'. They'll not be able to shift them quickly enough.

Do people not care about having a view out of cars anymore?

Such poor visibility in modern cars.

IMO the new Countryman will be hard to beat in the desirability stakes.

Isnt it a rebodied Countryman?

Disco Sport is the Freelander replacement, rebadged.

So the range used to be...
Def/FL/Evoqueue/Disco/RRS/RR
...now it's...
DiscoSport/Evoqueue/Disco/RRS/RR.

Not sure, but I'd be gobsmacked if there isn't a high percentage of commonality between the two.

IIRC the Roller's lined up to use a new RR platform/structure that'll be used for the next Phantom, while the BMW platforms go to the smaller end, the Ghost being a 7. Mebbe there'll be a smaller/cheaper Cullinan in the future? (the Elizabeth Duke?)
