Its like we have come full circle... Maybe the HRV was just born in the wrong era.

Also, none of the other BMW "X" cars look quite so stylish and sleek as this is so i'm struggling to see why a smaller version would be looking as such.
^^^^ This. The X1, X3 and X5 all look like copies of each other, just in varying sizes. The X4 and X6 "SUV coupe" offerings are likewise. In theory this should just slot in underneath the X4 and just be a smaller version of it and yet this concept looks like nothing else in the BMW SUV family at present so struggling to see how this will stay as is and still fit into their current line-up.

What I like about the X2 when comparing to X4/6 is the rake of the rear screen - it's less coupe-a-like. In that sense it looks to be a rival for the small SUVs such as the new HRV, CX-3, Infinity Q30, Audi Q2 etc.

It does look quite good however

X1
X2
X3
X4
X5
X6

Do they really need Six different SUV models?

I also see concept images of an x7 so that could be potentially 7 different suv models.
Nine. Don't forget the R-R Cullinan and the Mini Countryman.

Mind you, just look at VAG...

Skoda Kodiaq and Yeti
Seat Ateca
VW Tiguan, Touareg and Amarok
Audi Q2, Q3, Q5 and Q7
Porsche Macan and Cayenne
Lamborghini Urus
Bentley Bentayga

I make that 14 on the market in the next year or so...

Every niche, an' all.

Entry might be difficult without door handles.

The X4 and X6 are awful, but I actually think that looks quite reasonable. The grill is too big and the front too aggressive but the proportions look promising.

Could have small buttons under the wing mirrors, as some cars have had, no?

Remote fob. What could possibly go wrong?

Not sure, but every time something different comes out everyone seems to think it'll definitely go wrong. We're speculating totally though, and it is somewhat pointless.

It's a rendering of a concept. If it happens, it will have mechanical door handles.

I hope it's not FWD.
UKL platform based, so will likely be sold in fwd and awd versions like the current X1's.
I remember the days when BMW proudly promoted their cars as RWD. I think it's a pity they now make cars like this and the FWD 2 series people carrier.

I agree with the comments that the target market probably won't care, but as a BMW fan it feels a bit sad.

IMO the new Countryman will be hard to beat in the desirability stakes. An all4 would be ideal for the Missus.

I do like those concept pics though.

I'm almost certain that the new BMW X2 - IS a Mini countryman - they will be the same platform underneath.

Woop, yet another bloated hatchback with massive alloys that looks like a childrens training shoe. They'll sell like hot cakes of course.

Why is it woman like tiny but 4x4's?
Because women are dedicated followers of fashion, and they are fashionable. And if Kim Kardashian or one of the girls from Made in Chelsea drives one, then it's promoted to the top of their cool list.

Is there a reason as to why you're so furiously defending this car that hasn't even been made yet?

I'm just genuinely wondering why you're feeling the need to reply to any/all comments that you don't agree with?

hehe just having a bit of a bad day. It is true though, so many people on PH, when some new tech comes along, say something along the lines of "if that breaks, that'll cost a lot", rather than accept the fact that it'll most likely work absolutely flawlessly.

It's a concept so they don't need to worry about inconsequential stuff like door handles, wipers ariels etc. that make cars work. By the time they add these it'll look like every other turd they make.

BMW already did the small crossover concept thing back in 1988
