I met a fellow pher who did this, took a ride in my RS, and admitted it was still better.

Mk2. A very pretty car.
I'm not sure it's pretty in my eyes but it looks more purposeful and like a WRC car, which makes it cooler in my eyes.

The MKIII RS will be a quicker car but I've never been keen on the current shape of the Focus and even in RS guise, it just doesn't work for me.
Not even close to pretty, that description to me summons up images in my head of svelte, sleek lines, a coupé styled by Pininfarina, not a massively aggressive styled hatch.

I do love the mk2 Focus, it is what it is and it the antithesis of the mk1 which went before (which I also love) I just can't warm to the mk3 for some reason.

I previouslythought the same.
I have a couple of MK2 Focus RS models in stock in my used car business and having actually driven them they are a world apart.
We have a mountune MP350 in stock and it is a very impressive car and I really am far from a ford fan boy.

The ST will lose money especially when modded. A MK2 RS will still hold its money, I think there is another 6 to 12 months before they drop in value, and even then it won't be significant.

yes

It's not hugely different, but it makes it lot more worthwhile revving it.

I'm not in the market for either but not everyone has or wants to spend £18-22k on an RS. 75% of the car for 50% of the money, plus avoiding some of the hassles doesn't sound too terrible.

Agree we sell a lot of Focus ST's and Astra VXR's to which are around half the price or less as you say- Only recently have I actually got behind the wheel of an RS and given it a good drive on a good stretch of road and it was far better than I had ever expected it to be. I was very surpised.

Saw a mk3 on track today at silverstone and although in the company of very expensive cars it looked the part . Wasn't out on track much but on a cold track would have been good fun .
I see the RS as an occasional track car and more of a B road hack .
Also I think it'll be hard pressed to lose anymore that 10k over 3yrs ownership which for all it can do is very respectable

Mk2 for me.

I don't care how capable the Mk3 is, I look at it and nothing happens.

I look at a Mk2 and I get all giddy, ditto the Mk1.

Also, because 5 pot yes

I'm sure the MK11 RS is a great car up to 9/10's, but over cook it and I reckon it would be much more tricky than a RWD or 4WD.
