Aggression on the Roads...

And the shout of "if you are using martial arts in the streets you are twenty minutes too late" or something is bks. Ive said many times I do not start fights. But I read this thread and empathised with the fact that there are many idiots on the road and they use violence. And Im VERY happy I know how to defend myself as all these thugs have "lost."
Yes they're out there, and in something like 250,000 miles of driving I'm fairly sure I've crossed paths with a few of them; in all those miles and all those crossed paths, not one encounter has ever come to violence. If you have a significantly higher hit rate (no pun intended), then possibly the fundamental variable in the situation is you.
"You can lead a horse to water ... etc. etc." How about: "if all you've got is a hammer, everything looks like a nail."

Cool you have never encountered any issues. Thats a small sample group. It seems the OP and various other people HAVE. I am one of those people who has. And a key variable is mileage.... I was doing 20,000 miles a year. I think i also posted originally, before the conversation developed, that I have made LOADS of errors. But I simply put my hand up and apologise. Its when OTHER people make mistakes who cannot take responsibility.... who then proceed to escalate things. My point many posts back was why would you turn anything violent when you cannot back it up.
And for the record I haven't had LOADS of road rage incidents - its a couple lol. And as I said I consider myself the victim..... initially.
To continue taking this off topic, Sebulban/Ninja hardnut, this is nonsense. The Demian Maia approach would not work in a street fight, if someone has good foot work and a decent jab its game over before you can hug and kiss them.
The only reason it works in the octagon is because they have the time and referee to allow him to snake his opponent. Not going to happen in the street. An approach like Anthony Rumble Johnsons on the other hand - Goodnight very quickly.
Ju jitsu has its place, i.e in the ring where the two opponents are not interfered with.

FCA approved. Worked for Lombard for many years - went into broking and now gone self employed. Dealing with same clients in and around Bristol.
I lend to businesses not individuals for capital expenditure.
Tell me this is a hoax, tell me you are not a MMA uber spandex type and are actually called Nigel, and work in logistics. You are currently sitting in your underpants eating expensive German biscuits and working up another forum plot to make your trivial existence pass faster....FCA approved. Gracie vs a boxing chump? In a ring with a referee. Did you not read my post mr My Dad's Harder Than your Dad?
Im not about to educate you on the history of combat sports - its not 1991 anymore. You are entitled to your opinion. I have seen how functional JJ is - I don't need some guy from PH to confirm anything for me. Any full contact combat sport will work on untrained opposition of a similar size - relying on footwork and punching alone has been proven to be the least effective and large percentages of boxing matches go all 12 rounds.
Saying JJ takes too long compared to boxing based on competition is clearly a faulty premise.

They go 12 rounds due to the gloves! BJJ is very effective, in the right conditions. I'd rather be equipped with god foot work and swift hands and feet That's all im saying. I'm involved in the sport through my kids and have been for many years so I'd like to think I'm not some bloke on ph. But you're entitled to your opinion, hopefully no one will need either due just avoiding the altercation in the first place.
Enjoy your evening.......Hardnut ;-)

I work with Paddy Fitzpatrick who used to coach George Groves. I understand the importance of footwork and hands. And my last fight was against an ex amateur boxing champ so I had to get my jab working. I appreciate it as an art. "good foot work & swift hands" comes under my banner of a trained fighter and if thats someones preference cool. But MMA is a grappling based sport and is my background. Cool your kids are involved. I have also said previously that option one isnt to go to the ground. But in a one on one scenario a reasonable JJ guy will not give a fk what some untrained chump can do. Gouge me and bite me all you like.... you will be going to sleep! And Ive seen it happen. Hence my comments.
But the original premise of the thread was aggression on the roads and comparing experiences. I hope that no one on here faces any sort of road rage. But the probability is high we will.

Just watched one of your fights, well done for having the gumption to get off your arse and compete. Takes a lot of guts! Wish I had of done it but sadly I'm a little too old now. Had this this very afternoon. On a traffic light controlled roundabout in the lane marked as straight ahead when a guy pulls up alongside on my left. As the lights go green he pulls off and immediately dives across the front of me go to the next exit to the right. I anchor up sharply and press the horn, he looks out of his window, gives me the coffee beans and mouths 'fk off'.
Err, what? You're in the wrong lane, nearly take the front of my car off with a stupid move (incidentally there was nothing behind me so he could easily have just waited and crossed the lanes behind me) and yet apparently I'm to blame? Still fit any consolation he was driving a Kia Carens which he'll have to suffer every time he steps out his front door.
He didnt happen to be in a white Insignia, 11 Plate did he? Err, what?
