I guess if one of the cars involved in the New Zealand McLaren tour was to have an offroad excursion, it was inevitable it would be the spikey, ludicrously expensive one...

"This is a car that was built in the early 90s that has some older electronic stability systems in place and there was a minor accident but we're obviously very confident that we have taken the appropriate safety precautions throughout the event."

Older, as in central nervous system?!

Perhaps he wouldn't have crashed if he'd taken the car cover off?

Somebody crashes an F1 in New Zealand and Rowan Atkinson becomes the main news story. He's never going to be able to live his exploits down hehe

Not only did they drive with a cover on, they had taped the wheels up as well, no wonder they spun it.

Wow, what a road to crash on!

I suppose the scenery would keep you occupied whilst recovery showed up.

That video reminds me of the old joke about the boating lake;

"Come in number 91, your time is up"
"But we only have 30 boats"
"Oh, are you in trouble number 16?" hehe

A private jet and technician were sent from Woking with it.

To be fair, there's a lot of roads out there with those views...fantastic part of the world, and probably one of the reasons that location was chosen.

That said, the local police aren't known for their tolerance - got pulled over and issued a ticket for doing 130 in a 100 between Qu'town and Manapouri (which was funny, as the speedo was reading no more than 120 at any point on the drive scratchchin ). Doubly frustrating as we were the only car on the road (except the copper hidden ahead under the trees) for ~10 minutes and the road was dead straight, dry and in daylight...

Rowan would have needed a custom shaped cover for it to fit...

It's hardly rolled into a ball is it?

Reverse gear, full left lock & it'll drive out of that ditch...
