My tenant wants to offer on my BTL.

He has been served notice to quit (6 month AST) and has around 6 weeks to leave.

It's unlikely that we would complete the sale in time if he does buy the property.

It's managed via an agent, so I presume that he can move on to a periodic rolling agreement fairly easily.

Is that a good way to proceed?

I don't want to get involved with managing his deposit, so would prefer to let the agent sort out renting until completion.

Just want to avoid any issues if we can't agree a sale and he has to leave.

Thanks.

Can't help with that much info, but yes, if you don't do another AST between the two of you then the current one rolls on unchanged.
Aside from you must still give 2 months notice, and he only has to give 1.

Good luck with the sale!
