If you have a packaged bank account then you may have free cover.

Plenty of insurance based schemes such as AutoAid etc.

If you want full cover then RAC or AA but only by signing up as a new customer each year through Quidco or TCB.

Buy a Volvo and you get free breakdown cover whenever you get it serviced.

This may not be the cheapest option.

Startrescue for me. I only want recovery home so I'm not fussed by the AA/RAC

I had to call them this year (my first breakdown in 10 years). I diagnosed it on the phone, they sent out a flatbed for the car, because we were in the arse end of nowhere though, he wouldn't get back in time for his tachometer, so they also sent a taxi to take us home, then the car arrived at 8am the next morning.
