Front number plates not required on supercars ?
Why do these people think it's OK to have no front number plate? They should have to follow the rules like all the rest of us. Tossers!
Wow, bitter much?
Actually I'm not in the slightest bit bitter, it just annoys me that people openly flout the rules and seemingly get away with it.
Why should a millionaire super-car owner be any more "exempt" from the rules as me or any other road user?
the plate is there to enable the police to track the owner so they can be prosecuted for motoring offences

when you drive the only white lez fezza alberta in the country it does become pretty redundant

There's nothing stopping you from doing it too. They just take there chances.
Personally I find the rule ridiculous as bikes don't have (to have) them either, so why cars?

Just out of interest, I thought he was bankrupt at one stage? I'm sure I read he fell out with a family member and it all went sour.
Maybe I'm totally wrong but he's obviously got a few bob now!
I recall a couple of years ago that his restaurant business was on the backfoot, when it appeared to have grown too rapidly to support itself. Funny, as when 'Kitchen Nightmares' was an entertaining British show, he always espoused that you should grow slowly and not risk a second venture until the time was right.

In any event, his relocation to America meant the quality of his programmes went down but his earnings skyrocketed. He's genuinely a big deal over there. I never thought that much of him as a chef, but his skills as a kitchen trouble shooter and entrepreneur are not in doubt. He always seemed like a good lad too.

The Enzo had special dispensation to not require a front numberplate in the UK, perhaps the same goes for this?

As others have said as well, the rarity of these cars means that it won't be too easy to "ring" one as you might do with a set of false plates off a similar looking car.

Flash bd, stop rubbing our noses in it. We get it, you have a Berlingo. Lucky for some!

You've all embarrassed yourselves.

It's a Peugeot Partner, not a Berlingo.

Sorry but I'm calling bulls**t on that one. I cannot believe there is any such thing, if so who grants such dispensations?
What have they got, a note from their Mum!

ETA: It's not about ringing either, it's about identifying vehicles using the public highway.
As far as I'm aware, the only person who's exempt from number plates is Liz, you know she lives in that big house at the end of The Mall.

I have mixed feelings about this article - I suspect that the only reason that you would drive cars like these in central London is to get noticed; a bit like a peacock fluffing its feathers.

Revelling in people's attention is narcissistic and may point to ego issues or poor self-esteem.

Or maybe he just likes driving them. smile

Is the Berlingo a 7 seater or just 5?

I remember reading somewhere that Gordon Murray used one for daily transport.

You don't have to follow the rules either if you don't want too, just take your plate off and run the same risk as the people not using one.

You're coming across as the kind of person that resents other peoples success and wants to lambast those that are for any potential discression. Do you read the Daily Mail by any chance?

Instead of looking at an amazing supercar, you want to critique the lack of a number plate. Have a sense of priority please. If he gets himself on the wrong side of the law, it is a very conspicuous car. not exactly a Ford Focus without a numberplate.

I'm surprised no one has flagged the Metrocab taking second stage in the second picture, looks almost iconic next to the newer brethren. Now is it an original Metrocab or the later Metrocab TTT?

BTW- From that angle is it a Berlingo or a BerlingoII ?

From my memory of when the Enzo was launched, the DVLA themselves agreed with Ferrari that no front numberplate was needed on the Ferrari Enzo. I read it in an article or saw it on Top Gear or similar, to the best of my recollection.

My Google results also suggest that many owners, perhaps Mr Ramsay as well, just go about without a numberplate and risk the maximum £1,000 fine they might get, which doesn't do much until you get caught several times and usually is just a £30 fine or similar.

The fact that he drives them around central London would put him firmly in the former category.

And I have no issue admitting I am very envious of some of the cars he owns!

Oh dear, I've mislead you all.

I just had five minutes to fact-check my earlier comment about Gordon Murray. I got it wrong, it was the Kangoo that he liked so much. At one point he confesses to owning three of them. He liked the packaging "There's more space in there than inside a range rover".

I'm suprised none of you picked me up on this awful heinous mistake. Sorry.
