Longest Motorway Journey in the UK?
Discussion
843 miles from Exeter to Dunblane. I could do a full lap of the M25 to really pad it out but the Dartford crossing isn't motorway.

You could do this....
Folkestone M20, M25, M40, M42, M6, M69, M1, M62, M61, M6, M74, M73, M80, M9 to near Stirling.
A bit of a dogleg but it does avoid the M6 motorway roadworks....
Thats about 580 miles I think?
You can pad it out to 664 miles by using the M4/M5 instead of the M40 too but thats taking the piss...

Slightly O/T but we regularly visit my G/F's brother in Canterbury and from Weston super Mare we can often travel on 6 Motorways (M5, M32, M4, Sat Nav will often try to divert us onto M3, M25 then M2) - what other journeys are such a PITA?
In 60 miles from mine to my parents, I can do M62, M60, M62, M6, M56, M53 (and finally A55 which is basically N. Wales' motorway, with restricted sections).Mammasaid said:
The amount of orange ! marks just shows how piss poor the motorways are at the moment.I did City Airport > Edinburgh a few months ago. I've also done Stansted Airport > Edinburgh > Aberdeen. Felt really satisfying too.
That road between Edinburgh and Aberdeen though - possibly more speed cameras, in the middle of bloody nowhere, than any other main/dual carraigeway road i've driven on. I do wonder who signed off on it.

880 miles, I think you may have miscalculated that somewhat…I was hoping that Pont Abraham at the end of the M4 near Carmarthen to Broxden Junction at the end of the M90 near Perth might pip Folkestone to the post, but sadly only 526 miles (M4-M5-M6-A74(M)-M74-M73-M80-M876-M9-A90 FRB-M90).

How about: M20, M26, M25. Leave and go along the M4 towards Bristol. then NORTH on M5 to Birmingham, back south on M40 towards M25. Once back on M25 head clockwise to J21, take the M1 NORTH, join the M6 at the very start (J18??) to continue rest of the way.
Not a single piece of road used twice.
No sorry. Not a single piece of road used twice.
My thread. my rules - and I said:-
"A 'sensible' trip. No going round the M25 for the heck of it. Keep going in the same general direction".

626 miles or 611 miles without the glasgow loop, or 619 miles via liverpool rather than manchester. At one point you are driving South for a significant distance.
So, apart from driving due East to pick up the M25 (do what?)
Another bit near Manchester
And another bit by Glasgee.
I am terribly sorry, but I don't think you win the grand prize.
The person in the lead at the moment, is, let me see, scrabble through papers, ah yes, here we are, I have it.
At this precise moment in time the leader is da da........................., The Mad Monk. What a good bloke he is.
