Local garage bins Super Unleaded.

Super unleaded makes up less than 20% of total UK vehicle fuel sales, so some petrol stations, particularly in rural or poor areas, can find it marginal to stock super unleaded.
So they're throwing 20% of their profits away. This is within the M25 and also incredibly busy place most of the time.MarshPhantom said:

One imagines (perhaps naively, but nonetheless) that the operators of the site have made some kind of cost/benefit assessment in order to come to their conclusion not to stock super...Loyly said:
Do you regularly approach people at the petrol station and question their choice of fuel?
Yep!!!I see it as doing them a favour, as said earlier in the thread yesterday a plasterer in his van was just about to put fancy diesel in his van, he thanked me and moved to another pump. The majority I see are women in smallish cars.
Today it was a chap in a sporty looking Alfa, I didn't say anything as it was probably correct for his car.

We've no choice here in NI. The highest rated fuel is 97RON. To get higher than that for our previous 370z GT, we used to add an octane booster.
Must be a very high compression engine for that to be necessary. They make a great noise, toomarkymarkthree said:

Think I'd probably tell you to do one actually.Nowt wrong with helping people, although these days some folk see it as weird.
1. My car runs much better on V Power Diesel, used it since new, & one time I had to buy ordinary I actually stopped the car after a couple of miles because it was running lumpy & I wondered if I'd put in petrol by accident.
2. It's my money so il use it as I see fit.

I don't have a problem with V fuel i have always used it in one of my Cortina's since its restoration, i just think its a shame a lot of folk waste money puting it in their cars unknowingly.

I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone using the "super diesel" pumps. I don't even know what the difference is supposed to be; obviously it's not octane rating.
Cleaning additives i guess?I'd a Jag X Type 2.2D and i ran it on regular diesel, but i added Millers diesel additive. Worked out a lot cheaper and i knew exactly what i was getting.
