Friend of mine lives in London and just got one of these.
Says its 120 miles on a charge which is pennies and pays £240 a month on a lease deal. If you're vat registered its £200.

Quite tempted by one of these for the sheer cheapness of it all.

Anyone else done the same ?

I don't think you claim the vat back unless it's 100% business use.

Have a look in the EV section. Lots of discussion about them in there.

I have just put my name for one albeit with all the bits you'd associate with a premium futuristic car I'm paying alot more....

But coming from the cars i have the I3 feels so different and quirky that another boring diesel in this respect cant compare.

Public charging is a worry especially when you start to read forums such as SpeakEV as alot of the free chargers are being monetised and the service hasn't improved so that naturally grates on people who have been getting free energy for years.

I assume £240 a month must be with a pretty enormous deposit? It seems ridiculously cheap otherwise?

Tbh to get to that price you just have a base spec car which imo defeats the BMW feel of it...

I3 gets max torque 100% of the time. Expect its 0-30 time to be quicker than your car.

Truly brilliant things

It's a 9+23 lease business deal I suspect. 3+23 is almost certainly also available.

Base spec is better than your usual BMW car. So much so that the list of options on the i3 is quite small.

He did say they are not offering that deal anymore but yes I'm assuming the deposit must be sizeable. I'll ask and revert .

He's a private punter no business angle to the deal

Yup, it certainly does!

;-)

PS: Best car BMW make imo.

PPS: don't confuse max torque with max power, they are not the same thing at all...

I've not seen the figures but I dobut that's strictly true? Electric motors generally have roughly inverse exponential torque curves; EVs tend to be electronically limited at the lower reaches so I'd guess it'll put out constant torque from a stand-still up to a certain speed after which it'll start to fall, probably quite dramatically.

So in the original context (ie a 0-30 dash), yes it'll be generating peak torque all of the time (once it's not traction limited); but in a wider context it wont. Does anyone know at what speed torque does start to fall? I know in Teslas it's well below motorway speed.

So it's actually £320/month over the course of the lease. Still not too bad I guess.
