Two blokes attempt to steal a bike in broad daylight in a busy area of Central london. Not by loading it onto a back of the lorry or something else discrete, nope this is noisy angle grinder time.

Is this the new normal now?

And suprisingly, why were there no martial arts experts around to step in smile

I'm guessing in London on a scooter, very good chance of getting away.

I know, what a surprise right?

Sadly more and more common, stolen moped and crash helmets concealing ID. Shame the crowd didn't get hold of them, but then they'd have probably prosecuted.

Are the police even allowed to pursue motorbikes/scooters these days due to health and safety or is that an urban myth?

Sad to say the only solution to the problem is to ride something old they have no interest in stealing.

I think the policy varies by constabulary, some do some don't. I know some are now permitting use of stinger against bikes, ultimately however it's all to easy for crims on bikes to go down alleyways etc. that Police can't follow and disappear into estates.

The Mrs once had someone 'accidentally' lock their piece of st bike to hers rather than just around the cycle rack. Known scam.

We went back later with a saw to cut the lock and cut her decent bike free.
Sawing away at a bike lock in broad daylight, middle of the main street in York and the only people to approach were some chavs saying 'ere mate, careful, some coppers are coming'
rolleyes

What's the scam? Make you leave your bike? It's happened twice to me here in NL and I often wondered what the angle was.

Assuming some fkwit did that and what sort of lock they used you could just pick their bike up and start rotating it against the lock. Pops most of them easily. Then you just throw their bike in the nearest canal (assuming you're next to one and I usually am),

A mate lost the key to his bike lock when he'd parked it in town, so I went and cut it off with an angle grinder - no one said anything.

Even with video evidence the police will do absolutely nothing, motorbike theft is an epidemic across London now and the crim's know it.

Sadly this does seem to be the case most of the time. Stealing seems to regarded be a trivial offense compared to, say speeding or having expired VED.

There's a video I saw on youtube of two scum on a scooter going straight through a red light next to a marked police car.

They sit there and do nothing.

Sadly, a common occurance these days and heavily discussed over in Bike Banter.

This one below caused quite a bit of outrage:

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/1567109/shocking-mom...

Bunch of little tts taking a grinder to a bike outside of a busy M&S; passing motorcyclist tries to raise attention to it by reving his engine and trying to scare them off, ends up with acid being thrown at him and knocked off his bike.

Absolutely no fear these little aholes.

This sort of thing happens in SW London a fair bit. Couple of scrotes going around stealing bikes and mopeds.

Yes, they then go back in the dark of night (or broad daylight as it seems) and remove the lock, along with your bike.

No wonder the scrotes have no fear of being nicked.

"Frank Fisher aged 18 of Upper Halliford Road, Shepperton was sentenced yesterday for failing to stop for police, attempted burglary, attempted theft of motor vehicle, dangerous driving, driving with no licence, no insurance, aggravated vehicle taking, going equipped to steal and handling stolen goods"

...and here's what he got as punishment

He was given a 20 week prison sentence suspended for 12 months, disqualified from driving until extended test passed, £115 victim surcharge, £85 costs to the CPS and a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.

The only pain he endures is having to pay £200 at the rate of ninepence a week out of his dole.

£200 is often less than a speeding fine for normally law-abiding folk

That'll teach 'im!

Probably their bikes have been robbed by scrotes.
