One thing I would say in favour of the Mk3 is middle aged people wont look a bit silly driving it. When supply catches up with demand I wonder what the brokers will be knocking them out at ?
The lines are being switched to Mk4 Focus in the summer so at some point between now and probably March time the order book will close on it
Will the Mk4 be a significantly different car, Ford will build as many as they can sell and then they'll be deals on them.

They actually struggled to shift all the Mk2's as well..
'Twas ever thus...

Even back in the days of the Sierra Cosworth, sales slowed at the end of the model life. Unsold Sapphires and 4x4's got some attractive discounts in the end. The Escort Cosworth also saw it's sales dying down in the face of a rising fever for Japanese performance cars. Exclusivity in RS circles is more a product of a renewed appeal once a car goes 'classic' rather than something Ford try to engineer at the point of sale.

This isn't the 90's where they build what they like and shove it in a field and neither is it BMW where something like 80% of their sales are pre-reg lol

Every RS is built to order, no order no buildy as Paddy McGuiness would say - yes I'd expect the Mk4 to be as different as the 1>2>3 has been and of course we'll be a good few years away from the RS version (2023 poss)

Great vid thanks Matt. PH is now doing the best car vids on the net imo: no BS, informative, interesting, and aimed at driving enthusiasts. Keep up the great work guys.

Had a £40k budget to go and specifically buy a hot hatch and voted with my wallet for a Mk II RS, admittedly with the full Mountune MR375 clubsport package, suspension, brakes, exhaust, induction etc....

Was almost Mk III money for a mint low mileage 2010 full spec Lux 1 & 2 car with Dynamica Recaro's.

What a car and with the mountune upgrade a real beast performance wise leaving a Mk III in its wake.
Sadly whilst very capable and more modern the bland looking 5 Dr yikes Mk III did not float my boat at all.

No wonder Mk II prices are so strong its destined to become a future classic IMHO

Nice looking example.

FYI, Clubsport parts are wheels, brakes (Front and rear) and suspension - the other parts you listed relate to the MP or MR packages.

Looks like an MR375 with the X4 induction and front brakes (and suspension from what you've said).

Just had a chance to watch the video.

How are they similar in a straight line ? The mk3 is 4.7 and the mk2 is 5,9ish
A FWD car is about a second slower to 60 than an AWD car. So yes off the line to 60 the mk3 is undeniably quicker but once moving they'd be quite close.

So what, Mrs had a Fiesta ST2 built to order 2 years ago. Still got £3k off it.

Easy way to solve the high seating position is order the standard seats which come with height adjustment and are heated, they are also more comfy imo (still Recaro) offer great support and don't cost £1000 and have knackered bolsters after a year or two.. but everyone jumps on the CS seat bandwagon without giving the standard seats a go - unfairly imo.
Hi.

My dads Focus RS has the standard seats. We couldn't order then with heated option. Are you in the Uk or in the states? I hear the states can order heated but for some reason we couldn't.

After a 250 mile country blast (twice now..) I did not come away thinking I needed better seats than standard. I think the uprated seats are "must have" for some people but without any real understanding why they are "must have". If the stock seats were st then I'd hear the point but they are very good and I am very happy with them.

Cheers

I don't know why they do that. We have a Mazda 6 MPS which (when new obviously) was offered in only one spec. We (as in the UK) got a sunroof, while other countries got heated seats (and no sunroof).

I know which I use more and would prefer!

Mk3 is a far better car to drive and sit in. I personally prefer the looks of the mk3 too although I seem in the minority in here which is surprising as in the real World I often hear the mk2 as being suggested (to put it gently) as being a bit too outlandish. (Like people would say too outlandish).

So mk3 for me as it is alround a much better car.

Good luck with that, probably find that Ford have far more margin to play with on the Fiesta.
Also find that there's far less of a queue for one of those

But the point I made is the same, production will stop end of summer so the orders will dry up probably between now and March at a guess

Think he's asking the full RRP he paid which of course is £2k down on what it would be now - so yes if the spec is agreeable then it's certainly a fair price although 2nd owner

More margin on a 2 door £15k Euro car than a £30k world car...

Fiesta ST2 £15k RRP then is it...

The RS is a far more involved build, the lion's feet that allows the AWD to be fitted to a chassis that wasn't designed with AWD planned in from the start etc etc

Good luck with your discount, I got mine by ordering early pre the £2060 increase in base price

Who pays RRP ? There were several dealers knocking ST1's out at under £15k anyway. Good luck with the residuals on yours when Ford update the next one and sort out the diff issues...

He doesn't know what he's on about.

Depreciation wise it will be very strong also. Ford don't bring out an RS car until late into a models life so a mk4 will be several years down the line and the mk3 will still hold firm as being the best RS ever made.
