Lap record attempts tend not to be conservative hehe

What is rule 1999/94/EG that the car in the video is not subject to?

I'm not surprised by this at all having driven a Golf GTI mk7 recently. The way the chassis flows with typical UK B roads is astonishing - you can carry as much pace along a twisty section as in a 997 turbo and in many ways its more enjoyable as its not stop start like in a faster more powerful car where you're always having to get on the brakes to slow down for a corner. All the car you need IMO. Better put together than a 996 and 997 too. Not cheap mind you. I specced a standard GTI 5 door with performance pack and a few other bits on VWs configurator and it was close to £40,000!

It's a very impressive time, there's no denying that, but not least as any car I have owned / currently own / will own is going to spend massively more time being enjoyed on UK roads that at the 'ring there's a long list of other reasons why I've chosen and will choose a 911 Turbo (for example) over a VW Golf.

Bit fishy IMO. Tyre warmers and slicks at 23 secs. Probably boosted for the lap to high heaven too. I don't buy how thats faster than a 675 LT and 488 GTB by over 10 secs.

I agree and thats fine but then at least say you're running circa 750bhp+ and or race fuel and slicks etc.

918 is a sub 7 minute car round the ring by the way.

o yes, I am making too many fopars atm lol

I guess this 7.10 time needs explaining as it is too fast. As you say with turbo, a quick remap can do wonders with 102 oct fuel.

Disagree. It seems the ambient was supposedly very cold that's why tyre warmers were used as obviously he was going to be cracking on immediately. Given it's a sport auto lap not a merc lap, I don't believe they would have allowed a car with slicks for the supertest, and it would have been dyno'd as well. It should be comparable to the 488 that they ran 7:22 recently to be honest as it's the same driver (different conditions obviously). And Sportauto had their 918 only do a 7:13......
