What's peoples thoughts on this?

Last night I went to the supermarket, parked in a half decent space (end of the row, with a car in front). Came out after my shopping to see a different car in front of mine and think to myself that they've parked like a chump (diagonal in the space, literally chucked it in). Walk closer to the car and notice a very obvious and fresh line in the dirt and grime on my front bumper, yep; matching clean line in the dirt on their bumper. They had literally chucked their car in, used my bumper as a guide to stop and move forward a tad.

I raged, thought of my options and decided to leave rather than do something stupid. Judging by how they've parked the liklihood of them noticing what they've done or even caring was non existent, confrontation was pointless as they were probably the worse kind of person (it's only a car, right?), what the F*** is wrong with these people?

I'm still pissed about it today (brand new car and I REALLY hate inconsiderate people), it looks like it'll polish out but I still really regret not letting off some steam by inconveniencing and pissing them off in some way like they have me, letting two tyres down would have done it. Anyway, just wanted to vent.

Let's discuss! type

Not much to discuss is there? Anybody who does that is a fkwit, end of story. (Unless they are Italian or French, in which case it's the norm & cultural hehe)

Well, that's my opinion too, but there must be someone on here who thinks the opposite. I want to hear their thoughts on why they are an ahole. laugh

Unfortunately there are inconsiderate pricks everywhere who, because they don't care for their possessions, assume that nobody else does either.

Thank God I can park in an underground in Marbella as over there they just batter cars out the way.

I'd do it, in really tight parking situations. And I'd reverse so slowly that there wouldn't be any damage.

Surely if you need to touch someones bumper to park, the space isn't big enough for your car or skill?

I'd argue it's impossible to touch bumper to bumper without at least scuffing the lacquer. I'm sure the person who did mine last night would say there as no damage too. It's not for you to decide. Not cool man, not cool.

That's how they are at my parents place in Greece, even brand new cars are battle scarred from it. It's part and parcel of the culture there so forgiven to an extent - I would never, ever own a car I was precious about in a place like that.

So those nice plastic bumper clips when you then stress stretch/twist / degrade its safety from an impact perspective and bumper hanging angle don't cross your mind.

Mental note do not buy a car from this chap.

I do it but only ever with the rear of my car as I can see the front so know when to stop. Also I've got a towbar so don't scuff my bumper.

Nice - "touch of a rapist" springs to mind.

A bumper isn't just a bumper anymore is it. Years ago they were slabs of unpainted rubber, metal or plastic designed to do one thing. Now they are design features and full of electronics like cameras, sensors and radar guided cruise control. I'm sorry but if someone parked on my car i would be parking my foot in their door. I don't expect some mouthbreathing dosser to use my vehicle as their parking aid. In 26 years of driving i have never felt the need in any parking space to have to hit the car infront or behind to tell me i was in a slot. If it looks too tight i move on like most other non simple minded people would.

Picked up an MGF. 2 days later someone had scraped the side while reversing out of the parking space next to me. Fortunately, I paid the equivalent of £200 but still.

I've got some news: people don't give a st about your property.

My wife has the view that her bumpers are precisely that: for bumping off things.

This is why, to start the moronic child parking bay space debate again, you never ever want to park in these spaces, with mums bouncing off other cars whilst battling with prams, a big shop, changing bags and Mary Poppin's sized hangbags. They really do need more space.

People have no respect for others, if it was their car being hit they would go ballistic. But if they do it to another car "So What". Welcome to modern society!

There's rather a difference between using your bumper to reverse into your own garage and using it when reversing up to someone else's car. Nothing particularly wrong with the former.

Looks like I'm not alone. Thanks chaps.

What is peoples thoughts on the aftermath/retaliation? What would you have done/do? I wish I was a bigger man to chalk it up as one of those things and move on in life, but if i'm honest i'm not; I hate when someone inconveniences me or has little thought for their benefit. It eats at me.
