t, and on the Civic threads acting like that is some sort of abysmal car that only a fool would buy, are you that desperate to justify your purchase, if you actually have a Focus RS, that you have to expend such an effort in posting on here in trying to convince others (well, yourself) that you made the right choice?Sad b

Look for some information on the development of the Mk 3 RS. The engineering team describes at length their mandate, their goals, and how they developed the car.

The recent mk2 vs mk3 vid was interesting.
For me the mk2 every time.
Anyhow, a great car all the same, just glad these cars are out there TBH.

Did you notice how "terrible" and "aggravating" the seats in the Mk3 were to Matt? Spent a good bit of time on the issue, and it was unquestionably the most emotionally negative thing he said about the car. But not a mention of the seats in the Mk 2. Same kind of seats. Same height problem. But evidently they are only a problem in the new RS. Isn't that curious.

I would be interested in those 30K cars that are higher on your list. Before my purchase, that was the constant conundrum. I couldn't find a car with the capabilities of the RS for that kind of money. The CTR was great, but I live where we have Winter. The VW R was nice, but dull and has that sucky Haldex hang on.The STi is rough and crude and old-fashioned (which I might live with if it was faster than the RS. But it's not.) Ditto and even more so for the 5 speed EVO. There were a few other good choices. The Merc 45 for example, but it's way, way more money. Same for the Audi RS, but with that buzzkill Haldex again. I don't know. You tell me.

If I wanted something that could carry people with a decent boot etc. and had to be modern (I tend to find most new cars deathly dull), I would go for a secondhand C63 wagon, Alpine etc.
And get a set of winter tyres if required.

Have you ever owned or drive a EVO with the AYC, if so how would you compare how the RS feels to it. I sort of saw the RS as the modern day evo with a very similar rear diff setup, but think the weight of the rs and size might not give it the placability on the road, nor the composure over the rougher tarmac.. It'd be an interesting and useful comparison Watch this space!
