I best that's what it actually weighs though. Lexus don't just blatantly lie about lie about curb weight. I've got a very old Lexus at the moment. An old RX300. 15 years old. Everything on it works perfectly. I bet this car would be fantastic to actually own and use day in, day out.

Doesnt look terribly bad, as in, best lexus since the previous shape IS for me

But by god, 2 tons... here i was hoping for something nice and sporty, but this is just a big old barge, nearly 350kg over an E92 M3, or nearly 400 over an F80 M3, and while those are down on power (and cilinders), at least they have a usable back seat.

I think comparing this to an M3 is missing the point somewhat.

It's more like a 6 series competitor isn't it?

Looks good. Easily better looking than M cars and the top end Mercs. This actually attracts my attention outside of the supercars/hyper cars. I wouldn't look twice at M4/M5/M6s, 63AMGs as they all look like ugly executive cars.

However no doubt it can be had for £30k in 5 years.

To people who whines about weight: Which competitors actually weights less?

I think it's gorgeous, really. Very few cars nowadays grab me, are must have upon first sight. This was when I saw it first a few hours ago. For a while now a V8 Vantage has been on my radar, to have within the next five years (praying values don't climb!) This is now also on the radar. Great effort, and for me at least the engineering/ quality element is a factor with one of these.
I'll take it in blue or ruby please.

Agree that it's a 6 series competitor and that puts it about right in terms of weight I reckon.

The M3 is a totally different kettle of fish to this.

To compare direct with the quote above:

"Lexus folk will tell you that they have aimed the LC's dynamic make-up somewhere between the Porsche 911 and Ferrari 488"

Then I would be comparing against

Base Mercedes AMG GT - 1645kg
Aston V8 Vantage - 1690kg
Porsche 911 Carrera 1515kg

If it is competing against the more barge like cars (BMW M6, Merc SL63, Mercedes S500 Coupe, Maserati Granturismo) then fair enough - but that weight figure contradicts their pitching of the car.

Two thoughts though, firstly, isn't hybrid standard on one of the models, that would push the weight up. Secondly, if it feels like it's cast from granite (which I bet being a Lexus it shall) it wouldn't be the top of my list of concerns.

It is a typical Lexus performance car...

You can see what they tried to do... But they never quite managed it...

Interior is nice, but the exterior is not quite pretty enough, and the speed is not quite fast enough.

Stunning. A Japanese manufacturer producing an unashamedly Japanese product, not a facsimile of a Eurobox.

All the naysayers on here are conditioned to conform.

I'd doubt it. Look how well the old isf holds its value.

I really like the exterior looks. Generally I think the weird shaped front grill Lexus use looks rubbish on most cars they make, but it almost matches the lines on this car and fits in with the styling overall.
I expect the weight is similar to mercedes SL etc least it has lots of power to move it along. Shame it's not lighter but then it's a lot cheaper than the LFA.

I wonder how many they'll sell.

Case in point - the ISF is a great car, but there are only ~200 in the U.K. compared to thousands of M3s of a similar generation.

Just makes them all the more special cloud9

Lexus tend to be much heavier than their rivals though, and the RCF is a good example and that's a M4 rival yet weighs almost 300kg more.

Interesting. I'm sure it will be a great success in those countries where buyers genuinely value ability in a car, and who are open to cars from brands that don't have 100 years of heritage.
Yup this. I think the design is superb too.
