Actually like I said I had already looked at the Omega. You didn't give me the idea. I didn't bother adding it to my list because I had already discovered that finding a 3.0 V6 manual and not abused is next to impossible.

I really don't know what Japanese stuff you could get that was also manual.

You've set yourself a very narrow criteria.
Yeah I think Japanese RWD saloons are only Lexus. But the larger E Class like is the one they tried to imitate Mercedes (again) and went for the quad round eye set up which looks hideous even on the Mercedes and also S-type. So it's probably the ugliest Lexus ever.

Just get a 5 series, there are st loads around, plenty of good cheap examples. My Y-reg e39 cost peanuts, it is immaculate and drives beautifully, easy to service, why make life difficult for yourself?

ok

any other criteria we don't know about?

'affordable' is subjective - how much are we talking about?

In Germany at least, anything vaguely roadworthy is northwards of €2000, whereas in the UK you've a selection of shed money cars at a grand

big cheap manual LHD saloons that haven't been abused are hard to find, more so the more things you rule out

I love Omegas. Ran one for 3 years and it was great, my FIL still has it now. The correct answer is still a 5 series though. hehe

They come in both flavours, auto ones are much cheaper than the manuals though.

Anyway, the PH Classifieds is RUBBISH for the OP's criteria:

Petrol, Manual, RWD, 4 doors, under £2,000. Not even gone with LHD as it would not work here!

Why does it need to be so big if you already have a Passat estate?

Maybe a BMW factory expansion and related compulsory purchase order of his childhood home caused him to have to live on the streets in his youth. Whilst the cruel mockery of passing 5-series saloons rubbed salt into his emotional wounds.

That's it isn't it? That's why you can't drive a 5-series!
