450nm

From a 1.6
And it's limited to 450Nm due to a boost limit. They could run more.

Looks spectacular, seems to go well to - but it should with those specs.

As a road car comparison, A Mercedes A45 AMG matches it for power and has 475Nm (350lb/ft) from a 2.0 engine. That's thought of as a fairly mental amount of power for a 2.0 road car, and it's about 300kg heavier than the WRC Fiesta 1.6.

I'll go out on a limb here against the trend, and say I hate these things. They look like a Halford's "bitsa." I'm sure from a performance point of view they're incredibly quick, but I fear I'm stuck in the past with what must be rose-tinted glasses. I prefer the old rivalries of Subaru vs Mistubishi in the group A days, in cars that were less powerful, and had less aero, meaning the performance difference must be made up by the human element.

These things have me thinking they're more aeroplane than car.

Can't say I'm a fan of the 2017 WRC style wise , but they're here for a purpose and are designed to the max of the legal limits .So long as they go like hell , which they will , looks remain irrelevant .

The previous engines "officially" produced 400NM and that was a conservative figure.Having worked with the previous ones I would suggest these produce at least 450NM.

They do sound decent for 4 pot turbos, rev limit around 8750rpm helps that as does the turbo anti lag trickery.

Looks like 2017 WRC is going to be just a bit good, to put it mildly...

Note : Even the engine is entirely special. I recently visited M-Sport, and was shown the new engine's cylinder block, which is hewn from a block of aluminium, with no castings or forgings involved. Aren't computers wonderful ....

Can you imagine driving that car along that road with that wet surface? That would be some white knuckle ride.

(although you could say the same for all rallying tbh).
It'd be like a normal sunday drive to be honest! biggrin Everything set up for that car on that road will make it quite easy to drive given the talent.

The current regional rally car can by had new from m-sport for £360,000 biggrin

I wonder what they would charge for the 2016 WRC one, might be some good lease deals now the new shape is due
New From M-Sport they were in the region of £500k, but pre owned cars are going from anything between £160-200k. a lot of the R5 cars have been bought and upgraded to RRC or WRC spec.

M-Sport have such a massive customer base that cars are sold before the WRC/R5 drivers have even used one in competition. Elfyn Evans has piloted at least 2 R5 Cars that were being sent straight to customers once they had finished the rally he was on. That was the problem with Elfyn not having a car to run at Wales Rally. M-Sport didn't have any WRC Cars he could use.

Hopefully this is just the beginning in returning Rallying to what made it so great in the first place. Fab.

Awesome car. Was lucky enough to have four laps as a passenger off road around Greystoke Forest (with Matthew Wilson driving) last year when the car was under development.
Seriously fast....
Cant wait to see how it performs in the WRC and with Ogier driving as well
woohoo
