I'm not sure what I think about this either.
A famous car maker's heritage is all that makes them what they are, at the end of the day. They need to treat it extremely carefully.

Milking the cow and bean counters now got interested.

Funny how both Aston and Jaguar could have done these years back except the huge amounts of money were not in the offering, so they didn't bother. Now they are.

Awesome! Just imagine if they did the DB4 GT Zagato as well...
They did... 27 years ago.

How long before other "premium" manufacturers do a "classic" line?

It could work.
I can't see a problem. McLaren could make more F1s. Lamborghini could build more Miuras and early Countach. Ferrari could be building 250GTO, 250SWB, whatever their customers order. There's no need for all this limited edition crap.

The only possible downside would be that some investors might see the value of their cars plateau, or even go down a little. But then dealers, auctioneers and collectors have long been deluding themselves that these machines have provenance, that the car Striling Moss once drove is worth more than another otherwise identical model. It's all just smoke and mirrors. I expect the cars with "provenance" will always command a premium amongst the gullable rich.

So presumably as they're calling it a 'continuation' it means they don't have to comply with modern crash test safety regulations? Just interested if anyone knew how it works?

They do not anyway because the cars are not road-legal. They will be track cars only (or at least until until owners decide to ignore that slight issue.) wink

Cool. All you need is 1.6M. Regardless, I'm all for it. Elevates the brand. Pays the bills. When did Aston Martin last make a profit? Have they ever broken even?

Never mind all the expensive, sorry, exclusive stuff.

When's Ford going to put the mk1 and 2 RS escorts back into production at their original price?

If only.......

Hell, if only they could have seen the wood for the trees and licenced new build replacement bodyshells it would have been a start!!
Ford Europe could make a serious business out of redoing its back catalogue of motorsport products from the 60's and 70's given the demand (Mk1 & 2 Escorts, Lotus-Cortina's, Capri's, Cossie Sierra's etc)
It does this in the USA, but for some strange reason, Ford of Europe are just completely blind to the huge possibilities.

Oh....and as for the DB4GT new or old cloud9

I have a strong family connection to a beautiful black GT bought new and now being punted for hundreds of thousands (with an increasingly fabricated history).

Without a doubt the most beautiful car ever made.

If it were my money I'd take a bare chassis and, rather then use the standard Touring coachwork, ask someone like Bertone or Zagato to restyle it:
