Is there any way of guessing what will be the next 205 Gti , the next Golf Gti, these cars can now fetch 10k and we may well of owned a few ! Can we guess trends ? From the little I know about cars I'm guessing that classics become classics for a few reasons one of which is nostalgic, you owned a Gti when you were 18. We're now all a bit older and in a position to maybe have a toy tucked away, maybe in your 40s and you want what you had when you were 18 ! The good memory's and so on.
Is this how it works? What will the next generation be choosing ?
I've got a lovely little 106 Rallye tucked away. Not worth a great deal now but will it become a 10k car. I hope so as I need something towards my pension !!!!!
SO WHAT CARS ARE THE NEXT FUTURE CLASSICS ???

106 Rallye is as good as anything to have tucked away I would guess. Possibly early Saxo VTS and 172 Cup also. I think lightweight hatches without loads of electronic aids will become desirable eventually. Often it's the cars that go through the boy racer stage, loads get wrecked and they become rarer.

It's really not. Thats car will be sat there for months if not years until they reduce the price dramatically.

Just because some chancers advertise something at a certain price it doesn't mean its worth it or that it will sell for anywhere near that.

BMW M3 e46.

Money where my mouth is, just lashed out on one. Once the well documented issues have been attended to this car is surely destined for modern classic status. Has everything imo, four seats, good classic design style, good engine with genuine rorty exhaust note, fast. comfortible topped off with lashings of driver involvement.

10 k for the Rallye !! Have to keep an eye to see if it sells.
I suppose any hot hatch that is pretty standard with less than 100 k miles is a good start. I see 190 2.5 16v with 80k going for 15k plus. It's all gone mad.

My Dimma has 54k so maybe solid investment in years to come.

A really nice low mileage 182 Trophy would certainly be a keeper.

Jag XK8 / XKR (1996 - 2005)

They've largely disappeared from the roads around my way, always a good sign.

Biased.

Agree. A non modded supra. Maybe a totally standard early skyline

I reckon the orange mk2 Focus ST is a good shout - unmolested low-mileage ones are still commanding very strong prices, without the huge premium that comes with an RS.

I will tell you in ten years time. But in the meantime please write "would have" and not "would of". Sorry, but that does annoy me so.

I agree, ticks all the right boxes for future classic status. Quick, manual and limited numbers.
