Right, go post that on the climate change science thread where the scientists live . . . I'll give you an hour before your bare ass is handed to you on a plate, spanked and red raw biggrin
No. I've posted on there before several times. There are no scientists posting there just people who know enough to sound like scientists to laypeople. There is no value in that thread. If you think that research published in the journals like "Science" and "Nature" can be debunked on a car based internet forum then you don't understand how it works.

Mr Devil,

I think science is a simple concept to understand (including its benefits). I don't think it needs explaning to me or anyone else here.

Lucky the truth can often be spotted without the use of a calculator. Those of us without an ivory tower to maintain can usually predict the results of most research findings by the amount of money/power to be gained (or lost).

I don't see massive gains from witch hunting diesel. I suspect global warming is a different story.

Whilst walking in the train station today, I saw this advert, first I've heard of it in all honesty. What I can't get is where does the 50% value come from? Thin air?

It's beyond comprehension for me. I can't help think it's a made up arbitrary figure. The cars aren't certainly worth half and if you leased, did you not have a car half the time? Bonkers.

"They will be claiming".

That's the amount they'll put on the claim form when the case goes to court. It doesn't mean that's what they'll get... And, after their fees, it CERTAINLY doesn't mean that's what YOU'll get...

Seen this all over Facebook as well. I can't understand why people feel they need to be compensated? As far as i'm aware the values of diesels are holding up fine. People on the Facebook threads seem to think their vehicles would be worth thousands more if it wasn't for the diesel 'scandal'.

Because there's the sniff of free money, and who refuses that?

I didn't own a VW from that era, just the advert piqued my interest in the story further. I doubt anyone will get a penny tbh.... Other than solicitors.

S&G are the largest spank shop lawyers in the U.K. My understanding is that their typical model I ‘no win, no fee’. Given that that would mean a significant upfront cost to fund against VW it might suggest that they are pretty bullish that VW will at least cough up enough to cover their fees, marketing costs, handling costs and still turn a good profit?

I suspect there'll be an out-of-court settlement that'll work out a couple of hundred quid at most for everybody involved, less the legal costs. For a couple of years of stress and anger and blood pressure and worry...

I'm guessing this is how it works (IANAL but I read John Grisham books) - S&G rustle up 1000 disgruntled VW owners and claim £2000 per skull, VW knock it back to £1000 per skull, S&G pay out at £500 per skull, trousering £500,000 for themselves.

Truthfully, if I thought there was £500 to be had I'd sign up, but I'm guessing the sum to be had is more tending towards zero, so what's the point. On the other hand, if there's a chance of a bunch of ambulance chasers getting their fingers burned at no cost to me then it's starting to sound like a win-win situation.

For the record in regard to any future developments, this whole sorry affair has indeed caused me considerable stress, anxiety, hassle, worry, ulcers, sleepless nights, grey hair, weight gain, marital problems, personality change, breathing problems, hair loss and various other non-specific issues.

Somehow, I suspect the contract you'll sign to be "in" would cover the ambulance chasers being out of pocket... with the claimants underwriting any shortfall...

An impressive insight into just how vile and hideous these entities are. If any were needed.
