'Black Edition' Wow... why haven't other manufacturers thought of that!
My thoughts entirely, it was cool and edgy in 2010 or whatever with Mercs, now it has all the marketing panache and innovation of Plumbers with "Simply the Best !" written at angle in a jaunty script on their vans, all the massive budgets these manufacturers have and they all use the same thing ? kind of expect it from the lower rung companies doing a "me too" but Honda can surely do better, remember that ad for the Accord with all the car parts ?

Love the look of this car, would have been even better with those lights though!!
Exactly - I assume some religious nuts might have got involved, but it was a deal breaker for me when they didn't keep that look.

Err, black is a no cost option on the car an the red bits are a £500 package from the options list.

Is the only unique thing the black and red seats (rather than the red with black, if you see what I mean!)?

Don't get me wrong, the overall shape is nice but the details are just awful IMO. The front end is far too fussy and again it has too many unnecessary angles and edges, like someones been hacking at the clay model randomly with a sword. Just not a fan of most modern Japanese car design tbh, as I said far too over-designed for my liking.

To each his own, Sir. To each his own.

That'll be one more left for me, should I ever be able to afford one smile

At least theirs is actually Black. You can get Audi Black editions in a variety of colours - including white
I leased one of those Seat Cupra 290 black editions that were going cheap last summer. Available in every colour apart from black. Yeah, I don't get it either.

This black edition Civic would be a hell of a lot better without the extra red bits. I found the red bits in the standard type R offensive, last thing i'd want is more of that st.

Is there a particular reason why they still aren't employing the best feature of the concept??

I'm not sure if you mean the integrated wing and tail light design or the actual real wide arches. Both replaced by stick on aftermarket tat on the production car.

By the very definition of the term the arches and spoiler can't be after market, can they?

The lack of the devil horn rear lights is a disappointment, though. I wonder why they weren't used - cost perhaps?

I'm a big Honda fan bit this is a really poor half arsed attempt to shift a few cars.

Painting the side bits of the rear wing red and some different seats is pretty insulting to customers and nothing you couldn't do to your own car.

They know there's a new model coming otherwise they would have gone for an RR type approach with exhaust / suspension mods,

They did this with the S2000 too but at least that had a non available colour to the UK.

I'd like an FK2 but would steer clear of this tbh. There's 129 for sale on the dealer network which is pretty scary!

Im sorry but who ever is running Honda UK needs fecking shot!! They have destroyed what once was a fantastic brand. And what a joke. Lets call it a special edition because it has black paint. Tell you what. RAM your car. Ill by a nearly used with 2k miles for £24k. Was so tempted to get one and then seen the pictures of the new 2017 version or USD 2018 version. Looks amazing. Hold then offer a deal £7500 deposit and £350 p/m hahahahahahahaha yeah ill take two mate. Good luck with the residuals.

That's 129 Civic Type R is general. Not just the FK2.

124 if you take off the non FK2

Great cars. I do think in 6 months time when the new R is launched then the FK2 will be a serious used bargain

Agreed! There's only a few FN2 for sale, the other 120+ are FK2, which is a LOT for a lower volume car!

Never fail to stand next to one of these and think, they are one of the best looking cars, in that class, available today, outrageous. We've had a 'breadvan' style, 30 anni version type R, and currently, a 'starship type R' style version in the family, but the latest one is a truely awesome machine, all the better for the inclusion of turbo charging.....nigh on 170 mph FFS !!!! Mega interior, would love one.

Such an incredibly overzelously styled car. They just look ridiculous and poorly thought out with bits stuck on.

Unfortunately despite how decent it may be to drive it will depreciate hard this year when the new one is released. Some bargains to be had soon.

Black edition is just following the herd and a last gasp effort to get rid.

I mean how bad are those rear arches? Gappy and just look badly aftermarket. From this angle the car looks a mess. Also what is that vertical bit stuck on to the rear quarter panel above the corner of the bumper meant to be? Check those arch gaps.....

Haha. "Handpicked by Simon Cowell"

Hilarious. Like he picked the best one in the factory and his name on the log book adds £20k. Good luck with that.
