Apparantly they're saying they dont know
Eh? How can they not know?

If the dealer order to the factory says grey then I guess it`s the factory at fault, if the dealer order to the factory says silver then I`m guessing the dealer is at fault....

To say they don`t know is pretty wishy washy isn`t it?
Welcome to the world of Aston Martin.

Two cars the flippers have loved getting their hands on, interesting.

Surely when ordering you'd know your financial situation/ability to afford vehicles so you'd know what to get. It seems to me like OP is a bit of a flipper but doesn't like to admit it to himself/the forum.

Personally I wouldn't have a problem flipping cars like these if in a position to do so myself. No-one is forcing the people paying overs to do so, I guess it's the fault of the manufacturers that the cars are getting into flippers hands and not to the enthusiasts straight away.

OP, get what you can out of the manufacturer/dealer for their error, take delivery, enjoy the car for a bit, move it on for £££ and get onto the next one.

What do you mean by messed the finish on the roof by the way?
Looking at other GT8's they came with painted roof or bare carbon so assume it's to do with that.

one of PR job, the amount of PR they are going to get from that car over the next few years they could have given him the car and still be quids in

Dealer sales and sales admin staff, on the other hand, can tick a wrong box, transpose digits in a paint code, or even just write down the colour from the last order instead of what was supposed to go on this one. If what they put in is a valid option, the factory will accept the order and build it as ordered.
I'd get this at a mainstream main dealer, but AM UK dealers are shifting about 80 cars per month on average, and there are 20 of them. Selling a car a week on average you'd hope that sales/admin team could quote the buyer, model and paint code without thinking about it.

So "wrong finish" rather than "messed finish".

It really can't be hard for the dealer to come up with the order form or confirmation, and see what actually got ordered. But I guess the OP saw that at the time of order, right...?

Still, it's kinda academic, because it won't change the situation.
The only GT8 with the OP's name on is this one. He can have this one, or he can have his money back. Choose.

Why cant they sort out correcting the colour or finish? Or is it a case of the car will never be truly as new, like off the production line?

I dont care if its a Fiesta or Ferrari, if you have the picture in your mind of what you want and ask for but get different, i couldnt hand it. Would eat at me inside

Surely its not going to be that difficult taking it back and painting it the right colour- otherwise whats going to happen if it needs accident/ vandal damage repaired?
They can sort out the roof at the same time

And give the OP some chocs to share around smile

I agree. But if i had spent over £150k on a car i would want to love its colour.
I sort of agree but as I see it the OP only has 2 choices, accept it or reject it , if it's a limited edition and appreciating he'd be a fool to reject it even if he only drives it for 6 months decides he can't live with it and sells at a profit.

I've never bought a new car in my life as I can't stand losing XXX as soon as I turn the key so I've always had to pick the car rather than the colour but if I found a pink one I could run for 6 months and make money i'd be in it

most likely way to get any movement from AM is to hit Twitter/Facebook, sad as it may seem

Be worth checking whether it's actually AM's fault first, though, right...?

Unless it was legitimately OPs fault, the responsibility falls on AM. Responsibility and accountability are different.

Oh? Are the dealer AM-owned, then?

It shouldn't matter what car the OP ordered, high value or not. The manufacturer should right the problem. Whether it'd be to destroy the car and build another to the correct order specs or pay for an approved bodyshop to paint the car in the correct colour

A said before if they were to do that it would no longer have a chassis VIN number from the special limited edition build sequence.
Rectification or rolling over are the only two options

I cant see posting this up on facebook/twitter working out too favourably for either party
