New car painted wrong colour

Not trolling, just my opinion;
I hope it looks better in the flesh than the pics - for me the black/silver is a very harsh contrast, whereas the darker grey/black would be less two-tone.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - and good new the OP is getting what he wants. Hope it's a decent slice though as the journey from "no way am I having the car" to "I love it and everything's OK" has been a quick one.
My preference would have been to be sent back to the fatory to be re-worked to my spec - with a full paint inspection prior to reassembly (by me).
Congrats OP on realising a dream!
I think the pictures are pretty good but it does look different when seeing it in person.I hope it looks better in the flesh than the pics - for me the black/silver is a very harsh contrast, whereas the darker grey/black would be less two-tone.

In a ideal world a new car would have been great, but unfortunately building a new car was not a option. I did have my fingers crossed and hoped that they would build me a stripped out GT8S 1of 1 but its not possible!

If you've been dreaming about an Aston for 'over 20 years'. I'm assuming you fell in love with the then; gentleman, elegant, subtleties of Aston Martins of that era.
Why have you then ordered a car that looks something along the lines that the Project Kahn design department would reject as being too over the top?
Just curious. The V8 Vantage has slowly got more and more gopping since launch.

When the V8 Vantage arrived in 2005, i was lucky enough to have one for a week or so and then decided that i would get myself a Vantage at some point.
For sure the GT8 may not to be to everybody's taste but i think it looks pretty much perfect and for me at this point in gives me what i want from a car and is a AM.
Good luck with it, you can't really lose.
Nice motor OP. However, it's so 'in your face' with the carbon bits and wings, I think I'd get it wrapped an in you face colour, and then twelve months, a different in your face colour. And repeat. Then it be like having a new one every 12 months, whilst protecting the original colour.
(Obviously between wraps I'd have the old wrap removed otherwise the car would start looking like some badly wrapped pass he parcel present!!!)

have you managed a decent compromise?
Yes. I am still slightly disappointed that its not the colour ordered but the dealers and AM have been excellent. Sometimes mistakes happen but it is how they are resolved which defines how good a company is in my opinion and this case both dealer and AM have been excellent. They recognise that a mistake has been made and have done all that is realistically possible to resolve it.It is fair to say that i am totally satisfied with the outcome and look forward to collecting the GT8 and hopefully other Astons in the future.
I'd like to thank the dealership and AM and in particular Dr. Palmer and Paul Collett for following up to make sure i was happy with everything.

I'm not feeling the Gloss verses Satin myself, however it might just be the pics.I hope it looks better in the flesh than the pics - for me the black/silver is a very harsh contrast, whereas the darker grey/black would be less two-tone.
Still, it's a fabulous looking thing and a fabulous car.
Well done OP, I hope the car works out for you.
I have recently been shopping for a Mercedes SLS- As much as I thought I liked the satin colours, when seeing them I was very underwhelmed. The market feels the same way too as reflected (no pun intended) in satin car prices. I am not sure I could live with the wrong colour on a passion car..perhaps on a lease car that I know will go back but not on anything else...
Glad to hear you got it resolved OP, car does look stunning.
I would echo the wrap, satin paint is a pain to keep clean and very easily marked so the wrap would protect it nicely..I think you can have a wrap applied onto PPF as well.
Either that or just PPF the car, trust me you will regret not doing it when you try to clean dead bugs off the front and they stain..

Thanks Nick. The car will be detailed and have ppf fitted by elite detailer.I would echo the wrap, satin paint is a pain to keep clean and very easily marked so the wrap would protect it nicely..I think you can have a wrap applied onto PPF as well.

That colour looks fantastic. I have to say that having seen photos of the car I'm not a fan of the silver either. I don't particularly like the colour or how it contrasts with the bodykit
I have to say I agree. I think the darker colour would suit the exposed carbon bits Op specified.rkwm1 said:

For me this is the most important thing, they didn't just try to bullst you or put pressure on you on the grounds they could sell it no problem to someone else. Glad it's all been resolved in a positive way for you.cayman-black said:
