Glad to hear you got it resolved OP, car does look stunning.

I would echo the wrap, satin paint is a pain to keep clean and very easily marked so the wrap would protect it nicely..I think you can have a wrap applied onto PPF as well.
Either that or just PPF the car, trust me you will regret not doing it when you try to clean dead bugs off the front and they stain..
Thanks Nick. The car will be detailed and have ppf fitted by elite detailer.

I will try and get some pictures of it outside this week before it goes off to be detailed.

Is that where the spoiler came from?
I can see why some people may not like the wing as it doesn't look that good in some photos. However when you see it in person it looks perfect in my opinion.

any updates OP?
Sorry no real updates. Car is ready for collection but can't collect for a few weeks yet as i want it registered in March.

AM are now saying that there was a misunderstanding on deal they offered so are backtracking. I'll keep you updated on that.

So it looks like i'll be taking AM to court. They originally offered something. They did a u turn and then only offered part of the deal. They have now totally reneged on the offer made. See you in court!

Thats awful. Can you elaborate?

How frustrating, when you think you are sorted and it turns out it's only the beginning.
Can't go into too much detail at the moment, but it seems AM think i am going to sell it so no longer wish to honour their promise.

If i did (which i don't, not yet anyway), I don't see what the problem would be. Only a few days ago the good Dr. was tweeting what excellent investments AM are!

This would only be an issue if the OP were to order another Aston.

Given the screw-up and AM's subsequent u-turn I'm guessing that the OP would rather hammer his scrotum flat than deal with Aston again.

Did we ever get to the bottom of whether the dealer placed the order wrongly or not?
No. Apparently the the dealer did send the correct spec over, but the bit of tissue they sent it over on had a drink spilt on it. As they could only read satin on it they decided to choose for themselves. LOL.(not really)

I was told 5 people should have realised the mistake but didn't.

Well, how disappointing and very unprofessional. Always said that everyone, including me, makes mistakes, the important thing and measure of the organisation, in this case, is how you deal with the issue.

Complete guess, what's the betting the u-turn is the result of an internal dispute between two parts of AM, your fault, no your fault, well we're not taking the hit, well neither are we. Either way, disgraceful.
Yes, its a very poor showing. To offer something and then go back is shocking.

I would say "go on", but I think it's probably better if you don't, since I'm sure this is about to go very, very legal.
For sure. Solicitors have just been instructed to start action.

Aston or the dealer?
Aston Martin. Apparently Dr Andy Palmer himself has instructed them to do so.

Surely if a deposit was taken there has to be a valid contract of sale? How then can the dealer/AM pull out?

Or is there something going on that we're not being told?

Weird all round.
Yes £20k deposit was paid about a year ago!

We haven't got the full facts here, but that seems very very odd for everything to be amicable (and after meeting the CEO in person and you telling him the problem to which he said he'd deal with it personally) then working towards a decent agreed resolution for the CEO to basically turn round to the OP and go, actually I've changed my mind - fk you.

There's some key information missing between those two last events.
I'd love to go into it in more detail but as its with the solicitor now, unfortunately i can't at the moment.

Full details will be available on bailii.org sometime in the future.

Thank you all very much for your great comments and support.

It is very disheartening that you work hard, earn your money, place your order in good faith and then because of their mistakes your are told that they no longer wish to sell the car to people like me!

If AM are so against people selling on cars for a profit how is they have a dealer which has one for sale way above list?

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

I was told by JCT that this car is owned by them and the owner sold it to them as he wanted to make a quick profit! LMAO

One other thing i should mention is not only did they paint the car the wrong colour, they also finished the roof in Satin instead it gloss finish when this clearly stated on the order.
