And whats the problem with that?

If he like the car in that colour then its his choice. Would you rather it was something bright?

If I was in the position to buy a Ferrari for instance, I would choose grey over red. Much better looking IMO.

What financial loss have you incurred? You said you want the car so it's not like you were going to sell it on straight away anyway?? A manufacturer isn't liable for resale values.

If it's a Porsche or similar just have the dealer repaint before delivery. Woppum did it on a GT3RS and it turned out great for example.

It depends but either way there has been a giant screw up the car is clearly a AM GT8.

I think honestly I feel sorry for the OP, irrespective of waiting 20 years for a car from said brand, the fact they managed to screw up a limited production run order says many things about how it managed to get all the way through only to be picked up now (unfortunately AM still seem not to live up to the dream as car manufacturer (more so with poor paint finishing and poor quality control) and some of the dealers equally have a bit of a poor reputation).

I think if it were me in your position there is only really three options:

1) One accept the car (with some form of compensation and knowing how this mistake happened) and carry on enjoying the car
2) Accept the car (same as above), try it and sell it on, possibly even back to said dealer (irrespective of list prices that is to the OP's benefit he could not have guaranteed the sale prices rising (although highly likely on such a car))
3) Not accept it and get what you can back (however I think this could be a poor move based on the current sale prices and the dealer in question wins out with a car now worth more to sell on)

Looking at other GT8's I'm guessing the roof issue issue is you could get it carbon or painted.

I guess it depends on the shade of silver vs the shade of grey you were after. Looking online Aston does a lovely dark silver and an awful light one. If it's dark silver I think it may look a bit odd with a carbon roof so again I guess it's how the combination has been done.

Just ask to be put at the front of the line for the AM-RB 001 although that's probably sold out.

I would personally attempt to receive discount which would more than cover the cost of a wrap. Not only would you have the colour you want, the wrap would protect the paint for when/if you sell on.

It's true at any price point, youre taken to the car youve set your heart and money on, it's unveiled - and it's the wrong colour.

if some of the figures mentioned here are anywhere near plausible then thats the route I'd be taking, an extra 100k and first on the list for a car of your choosing down the line certainly would take the pain away

If its a GT8 there is no wrong colour, its one of the all time greats

If you bought it to flip then I hope the wrong colour melts your eyes

It wont work if this was the only time you were ever going to splash out on something like this for a key life event.

Suppose you'd ordered a special edition in white and it turned up in peuese green - yeah just live with it

Don't they have to take it back remove it from the list of special editions, re spec it as a standard car in silver, produce another car in the right colour and build and update the VIN and chassis numbers to put the new car back in sequence

Thanks for all your responses. Yes i can take it and sell it on although the figures mentioned are not realistic. There is a premium on the car but its nowhere near six figures. The problem with selling it immediately is that the manufacture is trying to stop the resale of cars as soon as they are delivered, so it will mean no more special edition cars in the future.

I ordered this car as it was something i had wanted for sometime and it seemed to be a decent long term investment, thats what i tell the wife anyway! Yes its not the worst thing in the world, but i have been waiting for almost a year to see my creation and now i don't get to see it at all, so i am p**sed off.

Well i'll make a few calls today and see what they put on the table and go from there!

I think the main problem is that they in a way dont care as much as you do. In your position I would be the same. Have they tried to entertain the idea of making another or taking this one back, stripping it down and repainting it?

Like others have said it might be a case of take it with some compensation, use it for a year and sell it for the same or a premium and re order something else.
