How incredibly generous of them.

Idiots.

I hope the support you had on this thread played some small part in their magnanimous decision.

I'd like to thank all PHers who have taken the time to read and comment on this thread. It seem that the PH community is strong and they do have ability to make manufactures listen.

Thanks again.

OP they played you like an ukulele. Can I suggest you tell them to suck a big one? It's just a car with some tat stuck on.

For future if you want to be treated seriously start a youtube channel, call yourself something silly and throw in some numbers at the end. Once you hit 1mil views per week from 16-22 year olds companies like AM or McLaren will start treating you as if you were the majority shareholder.

I need someone to do some negotiating next week. Are you free as your tactic sounds like a winner and guaranteed to get outcome everyone wants.

Mate walk away. Get your money back and walk away. You don't want this car anymore. You don't want to deal with this company any more. You don't need the hassle, you don't need the anguish. F**k them.

Also, I'd add: I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that.... but it's not nice. If any other after market company had slapped that body kit and spoiler on what's obviously a beautiful base car, they'd be properly hammered on PH. If it helps you properly visualise this car, photoshop a pair of Kahn alloys onto this photo to see properly how this really looks.

looks stunning to me, even in this combo

It would look a lot better in the OP's original choice of colour...

I must admit; it does sound a bit like we're back to the start of the thread.

AM appear to have bullied the OP to accept an offer that he wasn't originally happy with (paraphrasing).

Again; apologies if I have misunderstood this but that appears to be the way it is coming across to me and others on this thread.

It certainly does appear to be "big business negotiating vs. the little man 101".

HOWEVER, if the possibility of losing the car/ potential profit (were he to sell it) has worried the OP enough and he can live with the car... Take deal.

The thread is here for anyone who Googles and has given AM some negative publicity and others are free to make their own minds up whether they deal with them.

I think I'd be very, very unhappy and I would expect a re-paint before registration (so the original chassis numbering/ codes remain for the future) to be 'correct' and live without a cash payment/ discount.

I have no dog in the fight but it should be a 'happy' outcome for the OP and down to AM to make it so.

of course, but given the choice of GT8 wrong colour or no GT8, unless it was an auto, then they could keep it biggrin

I can't agree with that. You absolutely DO NOT have to treat people (employees/suppliers/customers) like a disposable commodity in order to be successful.

...yet there is a distinct element amongst leadership (particularly in automotive) who feel that (short-term) results are all that matters, and reward accordingly. This just perpetuates the issue as the (fast-rising) sociopaths are usually best at short-term results without consideration of long-term impact.

Your second paragraph sums up my statement and earlier observations.

You simply cannot match a factory spec paint job.

I'd wrap it or live with it.

Op - glad its (hopefully!) sorted

Even though the OP has had a result of sorts, I can't help think that the attitude show by AM is one which should left to the likes of Porsche, Ferrari, etc.

If you're going to create a brand that dotes on quintessential British gentlemanly behaviour, throwing your toys out of the pram at the first sign of trouble is probably not a great idea. That said, it takes two to tango and may be a reminder that the use of social media is a fairly blunt instrument to try and game the right outcome.

So OP, given the same scenario, would you post the same topic again?

Perhaps I wasn't clear - I'd expect the factory to sort it (and update paint codes etc on the chassis stickers so it shows the 'new' colour as the correct one at build) at their facilities, which, as many other posters have pointed out, would probably end up better than the 'line' finish.

I wouldn't wrap it, but that's just me.

I'd take the cash, live with it and never, ever try giving AM my money again and hopefully make a profit on the car so I can look back and smile.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Look it up; it's not much of a negotiating strategy.

Off topic, but I have only met one big boss man in my time and it was an odd experience.

We were invited for breakfast with the CEO. I say CEO, he was head or "CEO" of the UK business and being a French company, probably wasn't listened to very much.

For this we had to be at work for 7 am. I forewent a good breakfast on the promise of similar at this meeting. Nope, 1 dry bread bun, no sauce, 1 rasher of bacon and some tepid tea. Then we had to sit for 30 minutes and essentially listen to this guy ramble on about how great he was.

It was weird. It was supposed to be a sort of words of wisdom bit with a Q&A but all we got was "me me me, I am the bks!".

Back on topic.... arent AM doing yet more special editions of this car? I am sure I just read about some Red Bull Racing versions that only come in blue with either red or yellow accents, like the F1 cars have to denote who's car it is.

Off topic again, but years ago I went to the company group meeting, so this guy comes on stage and started to ramble on, in a similar way to you describe above at the end he said, does anyone have any questions, So I put my hand up like a small child and said.... Who are you? Self important tit hadn't thought to introduce himself, and no one around me know who he was either. (i did get a rather evil stare from the Director who I worked with)
