Sorry; been following this from afar...
So, they are now letting you buy the car but do you 'get anything' for the huge error they made with the colour etc?
It sounds like they may have 'won', if not. They've panicked you into thinking you may not get the car at all, so you gratefully accept the wrong car.
Apologies if I have misunderstood but you now seem very happy to be allowed to buy a different car than the one your ordered, for the same money?
They have offered some compensation but not what i was originally 'totally satisfied' with. So, they are now letting you buy the car but do you 'get anything' for the huge error they made with the colour etc?

I can't agree with that. You absolutely DO NOT have to treat people (employees/suppliers/customers) like a disposable commodity in order to be successful.
...yet there is a distinct element amongst leadership (particularly in automotive) who feel that (short-term) results are all that matters, and reward accordingly.
10 years ago I was working for a big insurance broker on a new starter training team in a call centre. We were visited by one of the higher ups from Head Office and he commented that there were a few empty desks. I told him that some of the new people had decided that working in a call centre wasn't for them so had left after a few weeks. His reply was "that's the problem these days, there's no loyalty". ...yet there is a distinct element amongst leadership (particularly in automotive) who feel that (short-term) results are all that matters, and reward accordingly.
The look on his face when I told him that I'd just been made redundant as part of his latest "restructuring excercise" after 20 years with the company was priceless.

Perhaps I wasn't clear - I'd expect the factory to sort it (and update paint codes etc on the chassis stickers so it shows the 'new' colour as the correct one at build) at their facilities, which, as many other posters have pointed out, would probably end up better than the 'line' finish.
I wouldn't wrap it, but that's just me.
I'd take the cash, live with it and never, ever try giving AM my money again and hopefully make a profit on the car so I can look back and smile.
Its not really possible. I wouldn't wrap it, but that's just me.

The whole car would have to be disassembled, chemically stripped, split perhaps , then prepped painted etc and rebuilt.
It wouldn't be "better than factory" line.
While you can get better finishes in terms of durability you rarely beat an OEM paint finish for colour match and evenness
Taking it to extreme, you reach a special year in your life and decide to order a special one off edition you can enjoy showing your mates and the world for the next 10 years
You order a blue car, a pink one turns up.
How much compo do they have to give you for you to be happy driving it and showing to your pals for the next 10 years?

None. They say 'sorry sir, here is a refund of your deposit', and then sell it to someone else. You order a blue car, a pink one turns up.

A contract is in place.
If you missed it and it was discussed in PH a few years ago, a marque dealer tried to get out of selling a car to a customer when they realised they could sell it for more elsewhere - court said no - theres a contract to satisfy.

OP they played you like an ukulele. Can I suggest you tell them to suck a big one? It's just a car with some tat stuck on.
Cutting off your nose to spite your face.Look it up; it's not much of a negotiating strategy.
EDIT although I would love to make some money out of it, so OP I change my advice to get the car and flip it without putting any mileage on it. Win win.

I wouldn't want to own something knowing that the true price that I paid for it wasn't money but rather becoming someone else's bh. Would you?

Too late. With your first reaction of acting like a stroppy teen, you lost all of your chances. EDIT although I would love to make some money out of it, so OP I change my advice to get the car and flip it without putting any mileage on it. Win win.
